The Uncle seems very angry in his press conference.
I just realized that the Uncle lives in MD.

Good point.
And I bet the family is bracing for some negative crap....Unfortuntely, people take it out on family members (I assume they didn't have anything to do with it, but we'll see)
I don't understand the reluctance to believe that individuals of the Islamic religion would attack Americans in a terrorist act...its not like it hasn't happened before.
I don't think that's going to happen.
Besides, they're cheechy's, not russians.
And how do you know this, Mr Anti-speculation?
Remember the guys that planned 9/11? There were here for years learning to be pilots..acting like "normal americans".
This kid came here as a nine year old to be a sleeper cell?

They train them much younger than that over there. The radicals grow up hating the US

There is no reluctance on my part to believe anything. I don't have a preference for the bombers motives, unlike a lot of people here. I'm just saying, these guys don't fit the profile of what we think of as traditional islamic terrorists. I think it is pretty clear they are Muslims and they are terrorists. It just seems like they're lone wolves and not connected to a network based on the way they've operated.
It's a possibility. I'm in a history of terrorism class at the moment, and they raise children to hate all Americans from birth.

Russia and Chechnya haven't really been fighting over the last few years. It's a pro-Russian government and the major separatist leaders were killed. It's still a volatile region but it isn't like Afghanistan in 2001.

Really? Because it sounds like the younger brother had a lot of American friends.

WHere was this confirmed? From what I heard, they were loners
Yeah, maybe ten year olds that live in that part of the world do hate Americans, but the idea that a kid came here as a nine year with a mission that he sat on for ten years then activated it about as absurd an idea as I've ever heard. I think pretty clearly something happened to these guys to turn them at some point, and it probably happened somewhat recently (last year or two). The idea that a nine year old came here with this in mind a decade later shows virtually no understanding of human nature and the human condition.

CNN had a quote from a "friend" who went to highschool with the younger one. The kid said he "partied" and hungout with the younger brother suspect.

Reminds me of the panic over the possibility of a manchurian candidate after the Korean War, but hey, fear is a hell of a drug.
