So is it safe to say that most of you would be disappointed if, in the final episode, when the Woodbury folks get there Rick's group just decided to abandon ship?
My wife says she thinks they left. I said no way, it has to be an ambush. I think they lured all the walkers from the yard into that building the preview showed them opening the door and meanwhile Rick and the rest are waiting somewhere nearby to fill the full of lead...at least I hope so. If they had all this build-up just to have
Rick's group run away I am going to scream.
Why? Tactically speaking that is the best option for Rick's group. Not the only option but certainly not something to freak out about. Realistically, the best choice. They are heavily outnumbered, outgunned and out-everything for that matter. They also have a baby, a one-legged old man, and a pre-teen. This is a tv show so I must expect the unexpected and do expect some sort of battle to ensue.
I do think a trap is waiting for The Governor and I do think Rick's group will end up killing some like Martinez and The Governor. We see them pack up which leads me to believe that they have entered into some guerrilla warfare. If you look at the promo for the finale, the part when they blow up the tower, you might notice that there are no walkers in the field. There are also two sneak previews available and one of them confirms that there are no walkers in the field when The Governor arrives.
I don't think they will drag The Governor into next season and do think they will follow the comics just a little bit.
TV shows have to be careful who they kill off no matter what a book or comic says. They realize while fans read the books and comics, the ratings also come from people who haven't read the original material. Killing off too many main characters or killing off main characters too quickly will doom a show and with millions on the line, the TV version would have been doomed if it followed the comic to a T; I think some of the comic readers might agree.
