Pretty rediculous. This would certainly qualify as a government study that flushes money down the toilet. More sore loser bs from the nuttier portion of the GOP.

No, ridiculous is having massive state debt with Nancy Pelosi and Diane "gun expert" Feinstein at the helm and having no option but to hope Obama pulls you out of the mess while adding trillions to the tab every year.

But CA wouldn't know anything about that....right?

More importantly than Texas' defense, to those of you who don't like Texas, its citizens, or their ideas: go pound sand. It won't affect you unless you live there. If you do live there and don't like it, move to a far more liberal paradise like CA, NY, IL, etc...

Unlike 99% of progressive policies, this idea from Texas doesn't require any coercion (public education funding, social security, medicare, medicaid, obamacare, etc).

Legalize weed? Taxes for military also count as coercion, make sure you dislike all coercion, not just coercion that your told is evil.

Please...give up the whole "financial collapse was Bush's fault" and the obama talking points. We've been through that dozens of times. It was government getting involved with home ownership and loans and banks that led to that $hitshow.
At least Texas is planning for the worst and hoping for the best. China might pass us soon economically, holds the majority of our debt, has the largest standing army in the world, and their Navy is fast our-pacing ours in building new warships (saw a special on that last week about the US as a military superpower), and they keep trying to send hacker teams to penetrate the Pentagon and DOD.

Don't bother brining that up to them...it's stricken from record.

To hell with em. While they all hope for change, the best place to do business in the country (we thank CA and NY and numerous other states for their companies that flee) and one of the most armed (without the mass shootings) is preparing for what most believe is the inevitable...and economic collapse.

And Texas is a fantastic place to live and raise a family. Home prices are great, jobs are plentiful, and pay is good.

Like Polish said...GO POUND SAND.

I was just bustin balls....

While there are bigger problems down here, I don't think it's such a bad idea to at least entertain other options.

I once drove along the drainage ditch that was called the Rio Grande, on I-10 in El Paso, TX. I saw the great wealth in the hills to the north, and the abject poverty to the south. When I voiced this to anybody from Texas, I heard about what I would have expected from Pro-slave Southerners prior to the Civil War. That is when I realize most people talked Christian better than they walked it and that If the country needed an enema, it wouldn't be given anywhere near Toledo, like I had thought previously!

I have been to Texas once and i always felt like it was its own country already. Its a lot different than the rest of the U.S. but that's not necessarily a bad thing because i enjoyed myself as well as the large amount of good looking ladies. My only complaint is that some of the people were the single most cocky people i have ever met in my life

I wouldn't pay you (you are good in my book). But I would pay most of the population to leave for the sake of leaving, but everybody would have to leave the land and infrasructure behind. But I would pay lots of money to have all those rugged survivalistic individualists go somewhere else!

In the service I ran into the same superior mentality. Definitely weak link in the chain shiit, most likely to get you killed. The more the situation changes, the more that principle stays the same.

Texans need to dump Rick Perry. I hope he runs for president again in 2016 just for its comedic value.

There was a poll out. Hillary Clinton actually leads Rick Perry in a hypothectical presidential matchup 50 percent to 42 percent with the rest undecided. She also leads Rubio and Christie in that same poll by very narrow margins. Like 1 percent.

Cool hopefully we can build a fence around it. They can not teach evolution in schools and execute everyone while other people try to have a civilization.

We are. You never told me you wanted to take your ball and go home because you didn't want rifraf like me playing with it;

AND,

You never wasted time and money on silly horse shiit like figuring out how you fellow Volunteers could get along with out any of us.

In fact, you sort of impressed me as a fairly decent (Christian) family kind of guy.

Hell I didn't even know you were from Texas!

Every time this comes up, the people who hate Texas the most are also the ones the most pissed off at the prospect of it leaving.

LOL...

"Butthurt"comes to mind.

Everyone is a racist, we ride horses, wear cowboy boots...etc.

As opposed to the de facto racism on the west coast and north east. Just as racist....but hide behind it by pointing fingers at the south every chance they get.

When you're constantly pointing and saying "SEE!! SEE!!!! LOOK AT THOSE RACISTS!!" it makes them forget what's going on in their own backyard.

Gimmie a break. Again, BUTTHURT.

And we do have better looking women.

I can't name one public school down here that teaches anything to do with the bible. I never heard it going through the system. Another myth.

And you don't need a fence if everyone is afraid of you. :eek:grin:

Love those polls...Neither I, or anyone in my family has ever gotten a call to ask my opinion.

I doubt that. Unless they polled Sheila Jackson Lee's district.

I have never said it was "Bush's fault". I have stated repeatedly that the finacial collapse was the end result of the adoption of the rediculous neo liberal policies toward the finacial sector by every administration since Reagan. The point being that policy makers like the guys behind this study still seem to think those policies are sound inspite of the fact that they have been a direct cause of global economic collapse twice.

If Texas succeed I would simply shrug my shoulders. Again this "study" is a waste of time and money. It's pretty surprising that many so called fiscal conservatives support such nonsense. I wonder how many "consultants" are going to cash in on this?

Sure we have to worry about inflation but that is only if we go insane.

Im sorry but I can't let that go. We are talking about raising minimum wage to $9 an hour. When I took the my job I was making good money. At the rate things are going I will be making nothing. If this $9 goes through since I started minimum wage employees will have had a $3.50 raise per hour. I haven't seen more than a dollar raise. We are treading on a thin line anymore. Pretty soon it will be better for me to flip burgers at MDs instead of going through my 5 years of schooling and risking my life day in and day out for what will no longer be good pay. I won't be able to afford a $10 meal at the fast foods places and I will need a raise or I won't be able to buy things.

Second can you explain why us printing our own money will somehow make us bullet proof? Do you believe we can just print our own money to pay off our debts and it is that easy? The more we print the less it is worth. I understand we must print to make up for the money being damaged but after we hit that printing will hurt what it is worth.

It is this kind of thinking I don't understand. Regan deregulated, and we had a savings and loan crisis; totally avoidable. Bush part 1 wasn't so nice to the big boys what took him to da dance, so he was gone. Clinton eliminated the one tick rule. But Bush two let big banks run roughshod over all the rules, and he repealed or emasculated most of the regulations from the great depression.

The Chinese government has come remarkably close to destroying their own country and peoples. If it weren't for our massive infusion of wealth they would be gone. They are running out of enviornment and resources, so they will have to take someone elses. But they are like the Soviet threat of the 50's, a paper tiger. More fear mongering.

I wonder if down the road Texas and California will resemble East Germany/ West Germany.

Time will tell. I'm not a full blown prepper, but I don't trust Washington, don't rely on government, and would rather be prepared and not need anything than need everything and not be prepared.
