You really are hanging this class on Decker and Darby? While Darby has elite speed, he certainly isn't a can't miss prospect. As for Decker, ever hear of Jordan Prestwood, we are fine, not to mention Stanley and then Steve Elmer for next season.

Let's hope Steve signs on signing day next year.

By who optimist's???? Or realists???? i could care less what you think! I'm just calling it like it is. I want Notre Dame to be what it once was. Until i see it i will exercise my right to call it like i see it.

I have a news flash for you:

Notre Dame will never be what it once was..........neither will tOSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, or any of the other "perennial powerhouses". The 85 scholarship limit, the advent of satellite TV(and the attendant dearth of Sports Channels), and the internet have all combined to change the landscape of college football dramatically. In the 60s and 70s, you didn't have Scouts, Inc., or 247, or rivals.com. If a player wanted to make a name for himself, he had to go to one of the few schools that got on TV often. These days, a kid is famous, nationally, before he even gets out of High School(see Jimmy Clausen). He doesn't HAVE to go to a big name school, in order to live la vida loca.

As for your rights.........a little advice from someone who has been a few places, and seen a few things; just because you have a right, that doesn't mean it is always wise to exercise that right. It's your choice, and like every choice, it comes with consequences.

I'll say this, I will be utterly surprised if he doesn't considering all he has said about ND since he committed. Decker on the other hand never sounded like that with ND and sounded disappointed that OSU never offered. Just my interpretation of it.

Looking at the early rankings, Elmer is a legit Top 3 OT while Decker has been listed in the 12-15 range of OT's.

Decker switches because of a position coach. That tells you all you need to know.

Plenty of commits have said overly positive things about their school (there's a reason they committed, after all) and later decommitted. BTW, here are some interesting quotes from the middle of December after Taylor visited for the banquet.

“First, Ohio State stopped in, but I didn’t even talk to them,” he said. “My coach told them that I’m committed to Notre Dame and no thanks. They said if you change your mind let us know. Then Coach Meyer called me, but I told him I’m happy with Notre Dame. He respected and he had nothing but nice things to say about his time at Notre Dame.”
Decker quickly put those rumors to rest after an in-home visit with Notre Dame assistant Tim Hinton.

"I'm committed to Notre Dame, that's the school I want to go to," he explained. "I'm not looking to hear from any other schools, I'm happy with where I'm at right now. It's crazy how fast stuff can spread over the Internet. I’ve never once thought about taking other visits. The staff knows they don’t even have to recruit me anymore, that’s how solid I am.”

I understand that kids feel that the right choice for them may change. But these kids should really try having some integrity and not turn into such complete f-ing liars. I realize that the lying is rampant, but it is a sad indictment of our culture.

Fair enough. Elmer did say how sick it made him when we lost to UM.

Based on what info did Scout make that change? I thought things didn't look good, but I didn't know he had officially flipped. Dang. Oh, and Schutt is a 5 star?

Dave Berk from Scout has reported he commited to OSU during his visit.

Another one bites the dust.

Its hard to add to the class when the staff is having a hard time keeping the current class from falling apart.

I dont know if this is being a pesimist or a realist....... but who's jumpng ship next?? I will say that EGolson tranfers........ that would top off a great month for the Irish!!!

Enough to beat the USC's Michigan's, Oklahoma's of the world? or the Purdue's, Navy's, Wake forest's?

I believe pieces are coming in and we will be able to compete with every team in the country in a short time. I wouldn't bet on us to beat the LSU's or the Alabama's right now. But 2-3 years from now when Kelly's recruits have developed in his system then yes... I do think we will beat the USCs Michigans and Oklahomas of the world.

I'm sorry that you do not have faith in the team that you supposedly root for. It must not be enjoyable to wake up every morning and be so negative. Call yourself a realist and call me an optimist if it makes you feel better. I have faith. Get yourself some.

Well this ****ing sucks.

The only solace I take from this is that when he played my former high school, he got owned by a guy that weighed 235 pounds the entire game and got into an altercation after the game when the teams were shaking hands.

Also heard he got kicked out of the next game.

Notre Dame isn't about belittling 17 and 18 year old kids. Show some class fellas.

This definitely sucks, but on to the next one.

Well, ND has another open spot for a recruit.....

It's funny that about a week ago we were all worrying about not having enough room for guys. Again, my fingers are crossed that the staff pulls off some miracles like last year.
