Who else has offered besides Texas?

No one incredible but I like these offers:

Louisville
SCar
Tenn
UDub
Nebraska

All these teams have good enough coaching staffs and recruiting to identify quality BCS caliber players. And you just never know if someone will end up being a special kind of player. I like that this kid plays in Florida and I love his versatility. Plus I love a kid who wants to play at ND and grew up a fan. I believe those guys are important to ND's success, they are great leaders and teammates. If Diaco and Kelly think this kid can produce I want him.

Kid loves ND.

Doesn't mean he will get an offer though.

Lots of guys who are big names and big fans of Notre Dame still don't manage to get the offer.

If Greg puts in the necessary work though, he could end up being a member of this class. I hope for the best for him.

He's now been offered by Texas and South Carolina. Texas doesn't offer untalented players out of state. I wonder how far down our big board he is behind:

Raekwon McMillan
Nyles Morgan
Clifton Garret

I don't think Nyles Morgan is coming, but we have a decent shot with Nyles Morgan and Clifton Garret. However, I doubt we will get both. If we were to take Morgan/Garret and we already have Greer, I'd have no trouble taking Miclisse too. We could then wait on Raekwon and take him no matter what. That would gives us 3-4 ILBs for this year.

It'll be interesting to see how the staff plays this one.

We don't have a shot with Clifton because according to many posters, he's not qualifies academically.

“I’ve talked with Coach Alford recently,” said Miclisse. “He’s been telling me that they really like me and really want me at linebacker, but he said they’re only taking three linebackers this year for the 2014 class. He told me that he wants to see me in person and take me through the drills.

“I’m going up there for three days in June. I’m going to spend time with the coaches, that’s what he told me.”

Miclisse is excited for his chance to prove himself to the Irish coaches at Notre Dame’s camp this summer.

That’s going to be like a dream come true,” he said. “I’ve been waiting on this opportunity since I was a little boy growing up a Notre Dame fan. Knowing that Notre Dame really wants me up there for a visit to see how the school is and see the coaches in person, I’m very excited.”

checking out his twitter...got some ND pics of jersey he bought and gf got him some ND gear....def doesn't look 6'1 to me..

That seems like a low number especially since they're losing at least 4, if not 5 linebackers after this year. Maybe he means inside linebackers when he says that. Could also mean that maybe the defence is going to have more 4-3 looks coming.

That surprises me as well. Perhaps he meant they are only taking three more LBs with Martini already committed?

ya, I was for thinking they would take 4 LBs to be honest. They are seriously hurting for ILB depth.

wow, his offers are really starting to pile up, and now SEC powerhouses are going after him. Why haven't we offered yet again?

They want to see him in person. Frankly there are several stud ILBs that we have on our board that I think the staff wants to get a feel for first.

Nyles> Greg IMO. But we can probably take both?

If we're his 'dream school', no sense in rushing, IMO. When a kid grows up routing for your school, you can typically get in the game late. Didn't USC offer Agholor during the last month of recruiting? After being recruiting/offered for over a year by the other schools he was being recruited by, USC's late offer was all that mattered.

didn't work for bosch in 2013.

but i see your point.

with that said the LSU offer is pretty eye opening to me at least. if it's for real the kid's legit.

Nyles morgan isn't looking like a realistic option...Makes sense that we'd move onto McClisse if he fits the height profile

I know u keep saying he's not interested but quotes from him and his Dad as well as reports from 247 indicate otherwise

Maybe we could just let the recruiting play out?

Ya know, like not say we don't have a chance with a recruit 50 weeks til signing day...

LSU likes smaller quick linebackers like Greg for their 4-3.

LSU 2012 starting LBs
Sam 58 Tahj Jones 6-2 210
Mike 46 Kevin Minter 6-1 245
Will 57 Lamin Barrow 6-1 229

Compared to the Alabama 3-4 MLBs
Mike 35 Nico Johnson 6-3 250
Will 32 CJ Mosley 6-3 235

Exactly.

Any 4-3 versus 3-4. Defensive ends will be heavier in the 3-4, too!

I'm sure glad we didn't pursue Eddie Vanderdoes since he didn't have any interest in ND. Oh, wait...
