Well. We made it. Tyga's new song Molly has a reference to ND; "King Gold's chains, thats Notre Dame".

In all seriousness, this is great for the brand and direction of the program.

I have never heard of Tyga but there have been many references to ND through hip-hop.

Don't forget the 90's, but I get you, man. Trending in the 21st.

Well the line before is something like "I'm in high school, that's college"

So I think he is comparing King's Gold Chains (a form of bling) to Notre Dame

It's actually a diss on ND IMO

Yes I understand putting a number on your helmet mean someone is out to kill you, but was does like it's Notre Dame mean? Was Ross confused?

Per rap genius:

Ross can put a bounty price on your head like a number on a football helmet. Ironically, Notre Dame’s helmets don’t have numbers

In other words, he just needed something to rhyme with "name".

I don't care for most rap/hip hop but it can only be good for ND if we're in rap songs because that means we're in the pop culture psyche. Many people may not like hip hop but many young high school age recruits listen to it. Our tradition and past glory may sell to the baby boomers in the media but it's not easy to sell a 17 year old from Florida/SoCal/Texas/etc. on ND using stories from before their parents even met.

Molly is a reference to MDMA, street ecstasy that kids like to use at raves if anyone was wondering.
