I believe he knew he was scammed but didn't realize she was a complete fabrication.

Kinda looks that maybe everyone around him, family and ND, realized it was fake but he still held on and was in denial and didn't want to believe.......until the phone call

Manti still thought Lennay existed, hence why he was fooled for so long. Thought maybe he was being scammed by Lennay, etc. Didn't realize the whole content of the hoax until two days ago.

I've lost some respect for Manti definitely, but I feel for him and will continue to root for him.

I think Manti acquitted himself fine. At this point, people are just going to believe what they want. He's getting destroyed in the comments over on PFT, but I'm now officially convinced that he got played and, while he didn't handle the whole situation well, he didn't really do anything "wrong," either. And when the story first broke, it certainly seemed likely to me that he could be involved.

Again, people will believe and say what they want. But people are dumb. I'm about ready to move on from this.
