IIRC, it took NDSP about a week to track down the accused player. They left voice mails for him and stopped by his dorm room during that period, but they obviously weren't very aggressive about getting a statement from him.
I don't want to revisit this, but I think it is at least worth thinking about the fact that it took police a week to track down a football player (with name in-hand) after a sexual assualt claim, whereas it took ND all of 5 hours after the deadspin story to go to bat for Teo over a fake girlfriend.
Of course, they have known about things since December, so maybe they had something prepared already and had to use it earlier than they thought, hence the speed of their defense. Also, the law is not involved yet in Teo's case, whereas things are complicated when it comes to University/police cases.
I believe that Teo got catfish'd, but again it is interesting to see the speed with which they defend Teo over a fake girlfriend, compared to how long it took to find a football player amidst a sexual assault claim.
