NEW DEVELOPMENT - Former ND teammate tells ESPN's Bob Holtzman that many players knew Lennay Kekua wasn't really Manti Te'o's girlfriend.

Well, there goes everything that points otherwise.

Who is the former teammate though. And is this taken out of context. Like everything.

I think they mean, wasn't really Manti's "girlfriend"

NOT

Manti did not know a girl named Kekua.

Im sitting here taking this all in and I'm starting to think, Was it necessary for Jack to speak first? If this was all just Manti getting tricked by some sick people, did ND really need to come out and speak first?

This point is making me still alittle nervous. Why did Jack have to come do damage control first?

He did that to put it in Manti's lap. To paraphrase, he said Manti would have to "clarify or explain some things he couldn't answer". With Manti in FL. now things move way from ND.

this some how will turn into a way that someone can spin this story in a negative direction. Its a shame should of kept it private.

Ok so here is what I got

Guy creates fake online persona

Starts talking to various Samoan/Hawaiian players

At some point connects with Manti on Twitter

Finds a naive guy and starts f*cking with him

Takes it further and gets Manti to open up

*** This is where sh*t get real confusing ***

Kills fake girl after Manti's Gma dies

Mysterious tweet to Robert Woods of USC

Lets media run with the story of dead girlfriend

Dec comes and then tries to reconnect with Manti (WHY?)

Teo figures out it's a scam

Deadspin story comes out

You forgot:

Real life NFL player claims he and Troy Polamalu met the imaginary girl in person and described her physical appearance.

McCarthy smear? Seriously dude? For the twentieth time, I BELIEVE MANTI.

Nobody is going to prison. I just want to know the truth. In fact, you should be happy for the investigation if you believe him and are so anxious to have him exonerated. If you believe him (as I do) then more details are exactly what you would want because that would mean the truth of an innocent Manti will come forth.

Seriously Troll!

ND is bound by FERPA. You and your National Enquirer Buddies aren't.

What does he have to be exonerated from? There you go with another McCarthism.

It's a basic tenet that a man is innocent until proven guilty not the other way around.

You keep saying you believe but keep demanding that Te'o and ND prove it to you.

Is she alive or dead? I thought the girl with the FB picture was imaginary.

The campus stuff with a student talking to a reporter saying no one really thought the girlfriend was real, is damning. Notre Dame should be left out of it, if reporters want to know then they hold go to the source. Manti Te'o.

The kid can't hide in his parents house forver. I hope the media camps out until he comes out so he can get a good taste of what he did.

I don't give a **** about what anyone who doesn't put their name on it says.

This "former teammate" could be Aaron Lynch for all we know. Or just completely fabricated.

hopefully the truth is revealed by the parties involved, because the media is doing a terrible job. everything is "revealed" piecemeal. no context. everything is "sources". that could be anyone. based on the reputation of the media on this matter, it could be some random person claiming to an ND football player. how do they know? did they only communicate by email and phone? was it an in person interview?

Someone seems to really be throwing him under the bus for some reason, but why?

Perhaps was/is jealous of the attention he gleaned? Perhaps he thinks he didn't get enough credit?

Perhaps he's just sick of the lie and being a part of it?

Who knows. They also said "former teammate."

That means the player was a Senior.

The Cardinal player came out and said Polamalu was brought into this for no reason. Troy knowing or seeing this girl before is false.

It's a basic tenet that a man is innocent until proven guilty not the other way around.

That standard applies to criminal law so we don't lock up innocent people. It has nothing to do with how we form opinions based on a "preponderance of the evidence." For example, most people believe Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson are murderers and Michael Jackson is a weirdo, not because they were proven guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt," but because the evidence seems to indicate that it's so.

You keep saying you believe but keep demanding that Te'o and ND prove it to you.

I don't DEMAND that anyone prove it to ME.
I WANT them to prove it to EVERYONE.

I believe in Manti/ND. Shoot me, but I don't get a fuzzy feeling when other people hate on my University. If any additional investigation is going to prove that the haters are flat-out wrong on this one, I want that evidence to come out.

It'd be dumb to dismiss it just because you disagree or don't like what was said. You could be right, or you could be dead wrong. But don't dismiss it.

I think we could all agree that Manti wasn't the best of friends with teammates like you'd expect... we just never really put much thought into it.

Here's my take. Sounds like someone was setting Teo up to scam or extort money from him. Out of all the crazy theories I have heard that would seem the most plausible.

Or left the team for other reasons.
