let me ask you something would you rather jack stay and kelly leave...or the other way around? (rhetorical question, of course we want and like both guys.)
dont let your anger at this flirting with the nfl news blind you to the fact that it is KELLY not Jack who put this football program where it is today.

Not arguing that I'm arguing that when someone says that
Swarbrick is a complete failure...this school is just an Ivy league school without football
is way out of line

i'm sorry to those i've offended by stating simple facts and personal beliefs, but ND would barely be on the map without the football program...sure the school has a lot of other things to be proud of...just things i do not find as interesting...not taking anything away from those who graduated/attend ND, just stating personal opinion.

i've heard many times and i'll say it here.....truth hurts, but our country needs more of it.

Dammit but this feels like a real power negotiation thing to me in which the amount of actual interaction with Philadelphia is irrelevant, but the "leak" was necessary to push Swarbrick, and precisely because the awkwardness of the current superclass retention was a real issue at this time.

Instead of immediately stepping up and getting contract negotiations settled, press releases written, and brushfires stamped out, Swarbrick has chosen to play a Game of Chicken for a while.

If so... Dammit, Jack! Get your priorities right!!

Swarbrick was very instrumental in the negotiations of a number of successful major sports related issues when he was a lawyer here in Indy. I would find it hard to believe he's playing a game of chicken.

Return2Glory,
Anything he does is calculated. If you don't think some of this success is due to Swarbrick then you are misguided. Who do you think hired Kelly? Was that just getting lucky? Do your research on Swarbrick and then tell me you're not impressed.

Right. Notre Dame is the great university it is today in large part because of football. I don't think many people here would disagree with that.
But it's quite a stretch to say that "the university is about the football program." Even if that's your opinion, it's pretty disrespectful to lots of people around here for whom Notre Dame is about a lot more than just football.

you don't have to agree with me...just stating my opinion...i'm not always fond of everyone's opinion on here either, but that's all it is....their opinion.

i love ND football

i respect the university, but don't love it...just the way it is for me, and it may sound ridiculous.....so sorry

that may the problem here. jack was thinking "calculating" he had all the time in the world on this "kelly thing". well guess what, jack-things have changed and the reality of the current situation requires a quick response. gotta be nimble enough and prepared enough to deal with this and fast. time to earn YOUR money Jack. the handling of the HFC at ND is priroty 1, 1a, 2, 3 andf 4 for the ND AD. always has been and always will be.

I don't have to agree with you and you don't have to love the University of Notre Dame as much as you love the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
But don't expect to talk that **** and not get called out on it.
That's all.
Later.

I would have to say that all the good feelings between Jack and Bri are now flushed. All business now. Cordial in public, extreme distaste in private.

this is admirable if you ask me.

he's a self made man.

hes not part of any other coaches "tree" like damn near every coach out there. he hasnt rode anyone's coattails to get whrehe got. he is the tree.

downside of this is he has no real mentors/sages to rally advise him as a friend in all this....probabaly just his agent.

He had Lou and Ara... Let's see if they tell him to go pisz up a rope or not.

If it happens, I equate these actions to that of the old Baltimore Colts skipping town in the middle of the night when no one else was watching. Load up the Mayflower trailers, boys....Load them up full.

I only hope that one gentleman gets his football back with Ara and Lou's sig on it. He might sell it to cover moving costs.

Agreed...would like to know the deal on the table to determine if one or the other is a douche bag.

Serious question, this isn't a flame towards you or anything but have you ever been to ND?

This is the most confusing post I've ever read. Can you help me by defining fact, personal belief, opinion, and truth? Then can you explain the last part talking about country? Then can you tell me how Notre Dame and country are correlated?

Sorry, I'm trying but I just don't get it.

@CaseyMatthews50: Watching the ND game...Would not want to play for Brian Kelly#JustSayin”

Is he under the impression that people will think he is Clay Matthews and that they will care about his opinion? Or is he just looking for the quickest way out of town should BK get the job?

Last week at this time, we were on top of the world. #1, dream matchup with Alabama coming up, great AD, great coach we all (well most of us) loved and respected for how he carries himself off the field and coached on it.

A week later, we've been blown out in the national championship (embarrassingly, I might add), the "is Notre Dame really back" question has popped up, the health of the program could be in jeopardy (it will be if Kelly leaves), Jack is coming under heat, one of our top recruits mysteriously decommits, and to top it all off we're tearing each other apart on the internet.

What a difference seven days makes.

This might be certain peoples' perception, but I'm willing to bet that we will, in retrospect, realize that things *AREN'T nearly as bad as they seem atm.
