I don't see how we could take him, but it was confirmed in Tunnel Vision today that we are still talking to him (Wiltfong specifically declined to say that Ty was looking to get out of USC though).

We've moved away from other prospects after we got to the point where we couldn't take them. For instance, Tunnel Vision confirmed today that we are no longer after Priest Willis or L.J. Moore, because we don't have a spot for either now that we have Redfield. I don't understand why we would be keeping up contact with Ty unless we are still interested ... but I also don't see how we could take him in addition to our current commits. Taking him as a best-available athlete with the intent of making him an LB--the only position where we need him right now--seems like a waste of a GREAT receiver and ball-carrier. Tunnel Vision suggested that he'd be a great H-back? Sure, but we'd have to create that position for him; we don't currently use an H-back.

Puzzling situation.

Folston could go to corner, where he started in the AA game. I don't see it hurting Bryant, Cierre and Theo were similar RB types and that worked pretty well for us, and I've heard from everyone that Onwualu is going to play reciever.. Plus, everyone here seems to still want PW... Why not move Folston to corner and bring in Isaac as the other back?... Seems perfectly logical.

You serious Clark?

That would overload us at CB, but given the dearth of 4:s: athletes at the position, it's certainly worth considering.

That's the idea, but it seems pretty clear from his tape that he's currently best suited to be a physical Z WR/ RB. That's why I'm still including him in that group.

Plausible.

I don't think its so much that we don't want him or the staff doesn't like him as a player because I think they love him as a player. For me it just sounds like right now from a position of need standpoint we are looking for two defenders or a top flight receiver. I think Isaac falls down the list due to need not want. We get one of Prevot/Hollins and swing for the fences on Vanderdoes.

Still talks with Notre Dame and people beginning to feel he may be really rethinking his commitment to USC, wouldnt be surprised if he ends up here

Vanderdoes or Kylie Fitts, This class needs d-lineman not another OLB, which is what he is.

I'd take him in a second...

he wasnt super impressive at the AA Game. He is too tall for a traditional RB, I like the two we have more than him right now. I agree with Whiskey, unless he wants to play LB, I say we pass.

We are no longer recruiting Willis or any other DBs, per Tunnel Vision today. We could move Folston to CB, but that only crowds that position. Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, sort of.

According to a poster on II, Isaac is visiting on the 25th with Vanderdoes, Larue, and Prevot. The guys there seem to value his posts, but obviously this hasn't been substantiated yet. And no, it's not TJ34.

Claims ND is willing to move Folston to DB if Isaac comes.

I'm skeptical, but TIFWIW. I would encourage other guys with II subscriptions to check it out in the 4HL. I peruse the board, but not very often. Maybe somebody here can vouch for him?

Maybe they think Ty can be like an Anthony Barr? Might be our rush OLB?

I'm starting to think so. I argued above that putting Ty on defense would be a waste of great offensive skill, but I noticed that Sapp mentioned Isaac in the same breath with Hollins and Prevot in Tunnel Vision today. Maybe that explains why the staff is still talking to him: they think of him as being able to fill that remaining big skill spot that the staff wants to fill so badly. Of course I could be reading something into nothing.

I agree with you. I think they want Ty at LB. Even more so now that we missed on AQM and Anzalone.

I can't vouch for the guy cause I have no idea who said what on that site, but I can say that there is validity to what he said about Isaac. I HATE to be so cryptic and I normally just keep these things quiet because these are not my own 'sources' I am hearing it from, but in this case, with all the crap that is going on with AA and since the info is already out there, I will say that Ty is supposed to come visit that weekend, and it is from some legit people...

Thanks buddy. Can you say if he's being recruited at RB?

My man. I heard some very similar rumblings, but I heard it was the weekend of the 25th with LaRue and Vanderdoes. Regardless, something is happening.

If Isaac wants in they'll take him. Staff is very high on him.

Got slammed in this thread nearly two years ago when I said I didn't think he was a running back.

By who? I've said that about a dozen times without objection. His upside is clearly best as a LB.

He's a great kid to have on the roster one way or another, even if he was not one of the top RBs at a national all-star game.

His height makes his career at RB automatically suspect. No one is seeing anything that isn't obvious. It's like saying, "I think Tony Springmann is better suited for OT." Most people would based on his measurables and the prototypes for that position.
