No surprise, ND didn't get any First Place votes.

ND apparently had the lock on place #4. Pollspeak hasn't been updated yet and there may be a few lowballs but can't be by many. A perfect 4th place would have had a total vote of 1298 and ND ended up with 1288. Sounds like a solid #4 in the minds of the writers. Also note no other SEC team finished ahead of ND.

....but, we wouldn't even finish 7th in the SEC!

I can live with #4 this season and more then likely Top 10 preseason ranking. Considering where we have been the past few years, don't know how you can't accept today.

I liked us better when we were unrated. No expectations, can only go up.

I'll take it! Nothing wrong with #4. This will probably be the worse ND team talent wise going forward. Crazy!

Lot of my Buckeye friends are already harassing me as they're the only undefeated team this year now. I like both teams, love the Irish more, but it's difficult to stomach the Buckeyes that hate the Irish.

LOL sorry if that was offensive. I just know how O$U students and fans can be. Raised on hating O$U, going to Michigan, + loving ND = pure hatred for O$U.

BTW, #4 is ok by me.

Ohio State's schedule this year and next year are complete and utter jokes. The only condolence is that they will also probably be destroyed in a bowl game (probably the Natty)

Stanford beat Oregon, ND beat Stanford yet Oregon is ranked ahead of ND with the same record. I don't care not a big issue with me just pointing that out. # 4 is fine with me.

I hate that we have to hear the whole SEC is superrior crap for another year.

THIS ISN'T AN SEC THING IT IS A BAMA THING. LSU COMES UP WITH A GREAT TEAM EVERY 5 YEARS AND WE WILL HAVE TO SEE IF A&M CAN SUSTAIN, BUT THIS MOSTLY A BAMA THING. IT WAS A BAMA AND UF THING BACK WHEN MEYER WAS AT UF. NOT ANYMORE. THE SEC AS A WHOLE IS NOT SUPERIOR IT IS BAMA AND ONLY BAMA RIGHT NOW!

The loss hurts. But at the beginning of the season, if you knew we would finish ranked #4, most of us, if not all of us, would have been excited about it. We have made great strides. We just have more to make before we are at the level of Bama. But we are going to get there soon. I think very soon.

Is what it is. The only team I take issue being ranked behind is Ohio State who played a really easy schedule this year and no bowl game.

I'm confident if ND went 10-2 and won the Capital One Bowl that many here would have been super excited for this past season. Yet, we go 12-1 and got punched in the mouth in the Natty against a team that nobody else was beating.

I'll take it.

Hey, #4 is nothing to shake your head at for a team that wasn't even ranked. We are on the right path and only going to keep getting better. It just hurts for the seniors.

You are right. I hear FSU tomahawk choppers saying they are back for beating NIU in the Orange Bowl. One always has to put things into perspective.

If that's what the preseason poll looks like, OSU and 'Bama are locks for Pasadena.

God you might be right. That is horrifying.

I believe Michigan, if we navigate our schedule, would be our only hope of stopping that from happening.

Yea after this year's NCG. An undefeated OSU beats out an undefeated ND. Given how ND got taken to the wood shed and given Urban Meyer's reputation. They thought processes will be that since Urban came from the SEC he will know how to take them down. Right or wrong OSU will get the benefit of the doubt over ND.

I met coach Fitzgerald this year and got an autograph football from him. Our youth organization is actually working with NW officals to see if we can host a round of playoff at their stadium in the future.

If I see Fitzgerald again I'll ask him to do us a real solid and beat OSU.

Why italics? You should definitely say that.

Does anyone know the possibility of us playing a home and home against OSU sometime in the near future? I really really really want to play them.
