Man I don't want to sound like a broken record but this O-line class (hell this class as a whole) could be epic. Coach D on ISD just stated on Wednesday's Power Hour that McGlinchey is the kid everyone is overlooking in this class (ND fans and national recruitniks). He flat out stated that this is a kid whose ceiling is a top 10 draft pick in 4-5 years. Higher ceiling than anyone in this class.

Time will tell, but will this O-line pass this years Bama squad as the greatest college o-line in the history of college football?

He'll be very McGrinchy with letting up sacks.

I'll see myself out.

I'd been working on a joke along those lines; "How the Glinch Stole Sack-mas" (clearly wasn't ready yet). Very reluctantly repped.

From 24/7's Barton Simmons:

From what I've been able to see Mike McGlinchey has been maybe the best OL out there. He's so big and strong, you have to beat him with speed.

McGlinchey's extremely raw. Austin Hooper just beat him pretty bad.

With the way he got up looking at the sideline with his hands raised it looked like he was expecting something else, but he is obviously raw. He was just the second person down the field on the subsequent punt at 6'9 295 lol.

I was also at the game sitting behind field goal pole and everyone there was just amazed on Mcglinchey's height in his speed on punt coverage. I was was impressed with Austin Hooper who held his own in the trenches. I was sitting next to Austin Hooper's parents who is still undecided ND still in the mix even more so if they come harder on him.

Definitely a physical specimen, but he got beat a couple of times in the game. Extremely raw.

Alabama did not have the greatest o line in college football history this year. Nebraska under Osborn had 2 that a can remember that were better. southern cal in'79 had one with 3/4 first round guys and even though it was smaller Lou's '88 o line was better in my opinion. Lets not get carried away here-they were great but not the best in history.

That 79 SC line was crazy good. Everyone knew what play they were going to run every down and the just jammed it down their throat -- student body right, student body left. Charles White wins the Heisman when that line should have gotten the lion's share of the glory.

didnt ND have a oline with 4/5 cfb hall of famers in the 40's?

I think it is true that seven OL from the 1940s are in the HOF: George Connor, Ziggy Czaraboski, Leon Hart, Boomer Groom, Jungle Jim Martin, Jim Fischer, and Youngstown's Bob Dove, but I don't know if they all played together.

Edit: Yes, it looks like at least Connor, Czarboski, Hart and Fisher played for Leahy on the great mid 40s teams. Great point.

Saw him at mass today. Definitely could bulk up and he seems much close to 6'7 than 6'8. Longo can work with him tho.

It's kinda funny how I saw him. He goes to a nearby parish but our parish has the latest mass in the area so he was keeping up on his faith with his busy life. I actually first saw the kid he was with in a penn charter shirt but when we stood mike kept rising lol. I was a little starstruck but he definitely gave off a good vibe and excited to see if he can make an impact at ND!

Jungle Jim, or "Gramps" played with Hart. They were defensive ends together and played on the offense. That was the Great ND Team that came in in 45-46 and went 48-0-2 winning two out of three National Championships. The third they won at the end of the season, but the Detroit sportswriters got a revote scheduled after the bowl games, (ND did not participate in those days). Because Michigan beat SC by a greater marging than ND did, the sportswriters that voted switched the championship from ND to Mich, ending the posibility of a three-peat.
