Who's coming back? Serious question

I think its easier to say who we are losing. Losing Elam Floyd Hunter Nixon Gillislee Bostic Hammons. Florida should be the best team in the SEC east and favored in every game next year. If we win the east we are one game away from the NC.

Team has a so-so defense, horrid offense, and unproven coach. But yeah, one game from NC.

@Andy_Staples: Elam and Floyd said in the locker room that they will turn pro. Not a huge surprise.

I'm glad we don't have that culture of selfishness and apathy in South Bend.

the staff told them both to go to the NFL

Florida was a 35 yard FG by Pitt from playing Monday instead of tonight. They beat FSU, LSU, aTm & USCe. The reward? A Louisville team that lost to UConn and Syracuse.

If you're a Gator, can you really get excited for this game?

In Gainesville, just like in Athens, Auburn, Columbia and the other major SEC cities, it's about getting to Atlanta & potentially the NCG. The goal is that. Nobody cares about the Sugar Bowl. Every single Gator would have rather been in Georgia's shoes and played Alabama for a chance at Miami rather than be content with going to a BCS bowl.

As a ND fan first and foremost, I really don't think that the majority of the fan base gets this. We have been out of the loop for so long that we forget what it's like to be contenders year in and year out.

If Florida played for a title against Bama (or us) they'd make LSU's offense from last year's game look like the greatest show on turf.

so you agree?

Yeah, I mean they only have to go through a super soft schedule of overrated teams that will all be counted as quality wins despite the teams not actually being any good because ESPN says so... which means they can probably even lose a game and still get in the NC.

The best news is they won't have to play any superior competition from the Big East in the NC because the system is set up such that not even an undefeated Big East team has a shot of getting in the championship game. The scary Big East is 9-2 against the pathetic SEC in the BCS era.... so you might as well give yourselves the trophy now.

Florida was out coached and out played. Florida players spent more effort talking sh-t to the opponent than playing the game. Embarrassing.

Pretty sure championship teams and championship players show up for every game no matter what...or at least enough to win against teams they are largely favored by. No doubt Louisville isn't a pushover, but Florida should have won this game by a couple scores.

All I'll say, as a fan of college football, is thank God the rest of the country doesn't view the bowls the way the SEC does. What a shame that would be for the sport. And frankly, I'm not convinced that the whole SEC does view it as has been suggested here. Florida is really the team this year who is sticking out as just a flatout embarrassment. It's pathetic - it makes a mockery out of the entire system. How anyone can defend that point of view is well beyond me. If it's true that this is how the SEC views it, it pisses me off as a college football fan. If it's not true, then simply consider it excuse making for a supposedly supreme conference who is getting it handed to them this bowl season. Most likely, the truth is somewhere in between. Pathetic.

UF is one of the hardest hitting teams out there but they sacrifice proper technique and don't wrap up in order to get the big hits. Looks like a bunch of Taylor Mays out there.

I mean anyone that watched the game tonight can see that Florida got totally outplayed, outcoached and outperformed. Easily the worst game they have played all year.

If anyone gets chance to go back and watch the Florida/Florida State game, do it. That was a team that knew it had a chance to play for a NCG with a win and played with emotion and heart. Even from the warm ups and introductions tonight, you could tell that this wasn't anywhere near the same.

To say that a team and confrence is weak because of a bad game that means nothing is not only wrong but ignorant.

Agreed. And after that I encourage all to go watch the Bowling Green, Georgia, and LA-Laf games as well. They truly are a dominant team.

No offense, but if being in the loop is accepting a loser's mentality and misrepresenting the sport/your school with half-hearted play, then I'd rather be the underdog team busting my chops just to earn respect. Yes, you absolutely get up for the game, every time. Respect doesn't always come with a trophy, but if it isn't the heart and soul of the game, what is? It's not that mystical. You give it your best, or you go out like a chump. Period.

I smell a nice meme forming here.

SEC is dominant, unstoppable force

Loses BCS game because of a lack of motivation.

With pictures of UF last night and Alabama against Utah.

They don't view it that way. They are rationalizing getting beat by a team they assumed they were going to roll by saying the game didn't matter. They weren't excited because they assumed they were going to show the Big East "how real football is played" and got punched in the mouth. Now they are confusing their apathy from when they assumed it was an automatic win with the delusion that this wasn't a big loss for their football program or their national prestige. I know plenty of UF fans who are pissed at their teams showing, and are concerned at Muschamp's ability to lead this team to playing Championship caliber ball.

But lets assume this is true, and that Florida is really incapable of getting up for a BCS game if it is not for the NCG. To that I say: Good. Please continue. Keep feeling like a national championship team while Big East teams kick your *ss. Keep complaining that next year you'll care about the bowl game. Keep almost losing to Division II schools because your head coach lacks the ability to focus your team properly. Keep talking up the fact that you owned a FSU team down the stretch that took four quarters to beat a MAC team on the big stage (maybe they weren't motivated either?). Do all of that for as long as you like. Soon you'll be as ND was in the dark days. Passing up bowl games and extra practice because they are "beneath you", and being full to the brim with blue-chippers who will play on Sundays but don't give a d*mn about playing for Florida.

You do that and I'll be here... excited as hell for every game my team plays, from Bama to Navy. We'll see what happens.

A missed 35 yd FG by Pitt kept UF out of the NCG?

Try 6 fumbles, losing 4, and 2 picks in their GIVEAWAY LOSS to UGA. Sounds like you've been in Gainsville too long and have picked up the woe is us, denial role. Florida could have easily controlled their fate but like tonight's lack of both discipline and ball security, they didn't.

Against ND missed an Extra Point and a FG in regulation, either of which would have won the game in regulation. Golson threw a pick in the end zone on the first drive. On the second drive, also first and goal, Riddick was thrown back 3 times. Either score would have won the game in regulation. Rees threw an INT which lead to 6 points for Pitt. ND was down 14 points in the 4th quarter but unlike Florida they FOUGHT BACK forcing OT. Gator fans and you dwell on Pitt's missed FG but neglect immediately before that possession Wood fumbled the game winning TD into Pitt's end zone for a turnover. A game includes all the plays and a season includes all the games.

Florida had an epic fail against UGA and again tonight. When the going gets tough the tough get going, they don't point at others for their own lack of performance.

I don't live in South Bend. I've lived 15 minutes from SEC headquarters for over 30 years. I've been to the SEC CG in BHM and ATL. I also remember UF before Spurrier. The success may have started 20 years ago but the program didn't.

I also remember ND not losing a home game in 4 years. But I don't remember ND Oversignings, Pell Grant scandals, multiple probations, a steady diet of 1aa teams and directional schools, nor ducking powerful teams across the nation.

ND hasn't played a 1aa caliber team in almost 80 years. Florida has rarely left The South to face a scheduled football opponent in that same time frame. And now, even New Orleans and The Sugar Bowl are too far, too insignificant and unworthy of a team that fumbled away it's own fate.

Florida hasn't been playing for titles year in and year out. I think playing all those 1 doubles and not learning how to travel to play a game has made them soft. Anybody can get up to play in a big game, it takes mental and physical toughness to bring your "A" game week in and week out against teams that are treating you like THIS is their season. (Ya'll aren't used to that, we go through that something like...every week.) Like Rocky said, that is what champions do. Florida got exposed, and in the process the $EC echo chamber is getting exposed. Remember way back last year when TAMU was a middling Big 12 team, one of those teams that could never hang in the SEC, well this year they were a few plays away from winning the sacred West and playing for the Natty themselves, after beating the team that the rest of the $EC is really rooting for when they chant $EC,(they might as well chant BAMA). All the $EC needs to do to feel better is to expand the conference by a couple of these teams that are pounding you like Louisville, and then they can be truly great, and it will be OK to lose to them, their freshman quarterback can win a Heisman, and they can be justified in a top ten preseason ranking, and Florida fans can stop making excuses for why they got dominated in every facet of the game except for one kickoff.

Its not painful at all. I dont have a team in the game on Monday.

Offense started off with a bad game plan and the D is getting killed by the best QB in college football.

I am a fan just not going to worry about some meaningless football game if it was the regular season I would be pissed

The program is about SEC championships and National Championships. The most important part about going to a bowl game is not even the actual bowl game but the extra practices for the younger players.

Unlike some programs going to a BCS game is not a goal at Florida. Florida will however go to a BCS game if they achieve the goal of winning the SEC. Do you see how many Florida fans decided to show up to the game?

I just dont see a reason to get upset about this game its a meaningless loss. The program is going in the right direction and I am excited about the future.

Nobody was excited about this game. The goals are simple beat your rivals and go to Atlanta.

I'll stop there, but man, that is pathetic. And SEC fans say we are smug.
