It's one of those years where you wish you had about 30 scholarships to give.

So if he wants to come would he take the "Best available" 4th spot? Would we take 3 RBs assuming Folston is on board?

Can't he play WR as well?
6'3 is pretty tall for a running back but if comes I'll be fine.

I like his size...thinking Eddie George, Eric Dickerson, Adriane Peterson...all pretty tall. Just loving the current state of affairs at USC.

The only way I would turn him down is if we'd have to turn away Eddie V., Max R., or AQM. Would take him over the rest.

So if AQM doesn't pick us/can't qualify we go hard after Isaac instead of a different OLB like Hollins or Prevot is that the consensus?

i would agree with that...2014's got a pretty stacked line of LB's

#USC RB commit Ty Isaac talks about the strength of his pledge & his continued communication with #NotreDame. (Premium) http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/rec...-recruiting/8401-isaac-stays-in-touch-with-nd

Says he's still committed to SC and is not looking around. But then says that he's still talking with Martin and Alford, and that they've been out to visit his school a few times. Said ND is the only other school he's reamined in contact with. No strong vibe IMO either way.

Taking Ty, Max, and Eddie?

Sounds like an awesome plan to me!

GOSH, I would kill for this to happen... USC boards will go into meltdown.

I wish we had more spots so we could take more of SC's recruits.

The "spots" thing is so complicated right now to me. After this weekend we should know what we have left and who we really want to go after before NSD (Vaderdoes, Isaac, maybe Hollins)

Yeah I'm with you, the elite guys remaining could certainly cause for a shuffle to the roster. Let's see what happens if we come out on top Monday.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Ty is not coming to ND. Max is all Irish who is recruiting Eddie V. to join the Irish Mob.

I'm good with that. Ty is an excellent prospect but unless he switches positions I'm not sure how well a 6'3" RB will do in college. I like our guy Bryant and the hopefully soon to be Irish Folston just fine!

so you are saying Ty Isaac is equally as talented as him then? The chances of a 6'3" RB succeeding is slim, no one said it was impossible.

Not saying that at all. It was intended as a joke; maybe it missed the mark.

I don't think height is a serious detriment for RBs in college, though. There's a long list of taller backs that did just fine. Deuce McAllister, Brandon Jacobs (before the transfer), Michael Bush, Matt Forte, Beanie Wells, Fred Taylor, and Steven Jackson were all studs despite being right around Isaac's size. If he has college-level RB talent, I don't think his height is especially important.

Adrian Peterson (6'1" 217) and Eric Dickerson (6'3" 220) also come into mind as taller backs who have done pretty good. I'm not sure what Ty Isaac's forty times have been, but both these guys have elite speed despite being bigger backs.
Forgot to include Marcus Allen 6'2" 210, seems like a lot of the old school running backs were bigger.

Can we make a comparison to all the white receivers or white running backs too?

He reminds me of Peyton Hillis.

You just picked 5 out of 7 guys that are bruising runners. Ty looks like a poor mans Matt Forte. And height can be important, it makes alot of runners run tall instead of staying low.

No one will convince me that Ty Isaac isn't a great running back prospect for a team like us, a team that can use a big bruising RB between the tackles but also likes to get the ball to RBs in space where they can make guys miss and loves to throw to the RB out of the backfield and/or line him up out wide. Isaac is the rare player who can do all these things. His film is fantastic and I've always wanted him.

But I just don't see how we have room for him if we get Folston, as we expect we will. There are just only so many spots we can give to offensive skill players. We didn't really need any RBs in this class, and we will likely have two in a few days after Folston announces. If there is room for a "best available" 4th guy after AQM, Redfield and Folston (assuming they commit to ND as expected), then I think we could take Ty only if Vanderdoes and Hutchings aren't interested.

*And if we can't get AQM in, I think we try to fill that spot with a defensive big skill guy like Hollins or Prevot or Hutchings instead of an offensive skill player like Isaac.

Composite Scores:

Isaac - 0.9821, 3rd RB
Bryant - 0.9741, 8th RB
Folston - 0.9453, 10th RB

As you can see, Bryant and Isaac are rated very similarly, but the services think Isaac is appreciably better than Folston. He'd be our highest rated RB since James Aldridge.

After comparing their film, I'm not sure why Isaac is held in higher esteem. Is Folston penalized for his size and swimming in a big pond (FL)?

I certainly won't be complaining if Isaac chose ND. But I really like Folston in the slot position. I really want this kid.
