Was waiting all day for someone to make this profile as I'm lazy and I know you all read the same Tunnel Vision I did. Slackers.

Offered a long time ago... in the spring or summer if memory is jogging my mind correctly... was a Clemson lean, now considered Tennessee/North Carolina lean... but is a name to watch per 247.

Really elite top 10 WR.

I didn't see where it said he was interested in ND but rather the staff may be interested in him...

See, that's what I thought at first too.* Then I thought interest was implied. Why did they list him as a "name to watch" in the same category as Prevot? It seems really, really pointless to list someone who isn't either being recruited by the staff or showing interest, right?

*This is also part of why I waited for someone else to make a profile lol

My takeaway was that its still a point of interest for our staff. Finding an Elite receiver is still a priority for a potential 4th spot. Keyword tho is Elite and there aren't that many out there. North is an Elite receiver that isn't commited anywhere.

I'm probably missing something but how does the staff show interest during quiet period?

Dead period. And this isn't when they would start showing interest. Also, I'm 99% sure you're allowed a phone call per week.

Your right Lax coaches are allowed 1 call per week.

You're better than this!

We already have Robinson, Fuller, Hunter, and Onwualu in the fold. Would North qualify as a "best available" ala Treadwell once upon a time? Probably if we somehow don't land one of Redfield, Folston, and Muhammad/Prevot/Hollins?

The guy's a consensus top 12 WR/top 150 player nationally. Big fast guy, exactly what we need. I'd take him.
Any idea why he doesn't have more elite offers and appears to be leaning toward North Carolina or Tennessee? Taking his recruitment slow?

He has tons of elite offers. I just didn't list them because I was lazy. Instead, I put an "etc."

North and his father want the world. They want North to play for a team that passes the ball a lot that will be loosing WR's and is bringing in a small WR class. They want to make sure North plays a lot as a freshmen.

If you look at our WR depth, the only true blue chip we have is Neal. And he plays the slot. Not saying we don't have good WRs, or young ones coming in with potential. Just saying we don't have blue chip depth like some programs do. IMO, if he's ready/polished, he should play early. He's already got prototypical size....

On the other hand, if you were a family analyzing Notre Dame receivers already on roster, and were intelligent about it, you'd be dropping the old high school "stars" and saying: they've got both wides established and returning and unlikely to be moved [Jones; Daniels], plus a surprise potential phenom [CBreezy] whom they apparently like a lot, so it wouldn't be easy to just jump in there.

But then if they were REALLY sharp, they'd add: you know Kelly plays a whole lot of receivers if they're genuinely good, so "we'd" get some playing time. .... but, by the way, one should add: if you can block.

Seems to me that Kelly tends to keep WR's on the sideline until they get all aspects of their game taken care of (blocking in particular). That is usually the hardest skill set for young receivers to develop. I imagine that might be why Neal didn't get much time in the slot this year.

I just don't understand this philosophy (which seems especially predominant among wide receivers). It seems to be driving Laquon Treadwell to Ole Miss, too. Do these kids not want to play for winning teams? Do they really think they're better off racking up big stats in losses? Do they not realize that if they're the only weapon on an offense they'll get swarmed by d-backs? It takes time to develop into an NFL-caliber WR.
And it often doesn't work out. Sure, Stefon Diggs had a big year at Maryland, but what did our old pal Greenberry do? And who had a bigger year, Dorial Green-Beckham at Mizzou? Or Amari Cooper at Alabama?
If North's that good, he'll rise to the top no matter where he goes.

I dont think that is what is happening with Treadwell Ole Miss is going to win football games. That being said kids pick schools for different reasons winning is not always the number 1 factor. MarQuez's father thinks that not playing and getting the ball has a negative impact on a college student.

I love DD and TJ, and they are good. My point is, North is bigger, stronger, faster coming out of HS (much more blue-chippish and physically ready, and rated higher). Also, at this point, I would not call either DD or TJ elite. Solid and productive yes, but they are not among the nation's elite yet. Both have been a product of an O in flux, with a young QB learning through the season. Brown was low rated, but he has the speed to become elite once he works on size. TJ will also be a senior in 2013, so you can bet BK is looking for the new bullet to reload. From everything I've read, the only thing North needs is polish in the route running space.

But if his dad is wanting him to go to a school where he will getting playing time from the start, that's a red flag. Not a RKG if this is true.
