Thank you, sir. Every region, group, or fanbase has a few people like that, including my own, unfortunately. It gets old after awhile and I lose my patience with willful stupidity. When one of the Bama fans says something just as stupid directed towards you guys, I'll probably be even harder on him! lol

We all do dumb things paying too much for car insurance doesn't have to be one of them.

Agree completely, and I'm repping this Bama fan. We're the first to complain when an opposing team's fan comes on IE and trash talks instead of engaging in intelligent football discussion. IMO this has to be a two-way street. Every fan base, including ours, should hold themselves to a higher standard. Let's all emphasize civil, respectful discourse instead of engaging in negative, and at times offense, commentary. As passionate as we all are about college football and our teams in particular, life is bigger than this sport or this "humongous" game. Life at its core is all about relationships, and this is what should be emphasized, even if over the Internet.

Yes ND fans in particular rather they are alumni or not (I am not) should try to respresent the values that the institution of ND stans for.

Thank you and I completely agree with you about civility and relationships, even on the Internet. I have nothing but respect for ND as a school and a football program, and I have tried to show that and represent the values of my own school by being civil and engaging in good discussions about our respective teams and the game. If I offended anyone by lambasting one of your fans for his uncalled for insult, I apologize. To those who've been supportive both on the board and in private messages, thank you, and I look forward to getting back to reasonable and civil football talk.

Just watched the bowl preview on fox sports. All I can say is Darius Walker is an impressive young man, and Petros needs to see an ENT specialist, his voice is worse than Gilbert Gottfried's. I had to put the ASU games on mute when I lived in Phoenix because of him.

I cannot STAND Papadakis. His radio show sometimes airs in Indy and I immediately change the channel.

Loving the ND fans pointing out that those T-shirts aren’t licensed. No kidding. This is why they have to tell you to stand up at games.

The Irish haven’t allowed a touchdown outside the red zone over their last 628 plays. The next-longest streak this season is Vanderbilt’s 387.

That is flat out impressive... WOW! Combined with our red zone D, it's even more impressive. Great stat - thanks for sharing, GITF!

He was looking to get a rile out of you and did just that. The best thing to do is simply ignore those posts.

Who was the last team to score outside the redzone on us?

Geez, the ESPN picks for all five of these games are lopsided. Doesn't say much for the BCS system, to which ESPN just purchased the broadcasting rights.

I'm glad no more than 25% picked ND. I want a chip on our boys' shoulders when they walk into that stadium.

I thought the BCS is going away completely once the playoff starts. Bowl games matchups will be based strictely on conference tie ins and draw.

They are in another couple years, but outside of the top four aren't matchups still going to be based on conference tie-ins? Not sure that the overall system, outside of the four-team playoff, will be much improved.

There is no automatic BCS busters though because there is no BCS. No NIU vs Florida State type matchups anymore. No it won't be much better but you may get some better matchups.

Hopefully so. I just think it's a shame that for as great as the regular season is in college football, we don't end up with better matchups in the postseason.

And as a partial aside, I hate seeing many of these early bowl games played in half-filled (at best) stadiums. But, on the bright side, all of these appetizers make me look that much more forward to January 7th. There, we're back on topic.

There still will be one team that gets in as it sits today. The highest ranked team from the Big East and all the other non auto qualifiers will get a spot in one of the "access bowls." Basically there will be 6 "access bowls" to replace the BCS bowls, of which two will be playoff games. With the Big East crumbling that might all fall through now.

College football playoffs since 1998: What the new plan could've looked like - SBNation.com

●One access bowl spot goes to the highest-ranking team from the Big East, Conference USA, the MAC, the Mountain West or the Sun Belt, known officially (believe it or not) as the "Group of Five." This sort of sounds insulting, but it's a step forward, and the little guys are happy.

As it stands today we can only play in the Orange Bowl twice every 12 years. If we don't finish in the Top 4 to be in the playoff it is going to be very difficult to secure a spot in one of the access bowls because of the allegiences between the bowls and the conferences they support. For example, the Sugar Bowl will be unlikely to pick ND over a 2nd or 3rd place SEC team under the new agreement.

Notre Dame will just have to finish in the top 4 every single year then. No worries, piece of cake Lol.

I believe our agreement with the ACC gives us access to ACC tie ins for bowls.

Thursday practice report for Bama (yes, it is this slow around here). Barrett Jones is still not practicing. Kenny Bell still not practicing (just non-contact). Also note:

In an interesting change, reporters got to see a passing drill that had used an inside linebacker, Nico Johnson, where the sixth defensive back usually lines up. The second unit had safety Vinnie Sunseri at the same spot.
