Says Alabama has a lot of the elements to be successful in the red zone. Thinks the same thing about Notre Dame.

Davaris Daniels will be playing

Says they wouldn't be the team they are today without Coach Longo. He connects with the players in the weight room and outside of it

About Riddick's 4 year transition...

Kelly thought he was uncomfortable at times. Getting him back to running back put him back into his comfort zone

About Tuitt..

His development to the player he is today, he had to be unselfish and solid against the run. He doesn't play for stats, he plays to help his team

Golson handling the NCG spotlight..

He has handled big stage situations. He has enough seasoning and Kelly will be very surprised if he can't handle the NCG situation

What is he looking for from Everett in the bowl game lay off?

Kelly is making sure Golson doesn't form bad habits and keeps getting better. With the lay off, they get to strictly focus on Golson's weaknesses

On Coach Elliot...

He has a great deal of experience and doesn't have an ego. Just likes to fit into the staff.

3 recruited wide receivers are playing in the secondary. Says Cooks and Elliot have done a phenomenal job coaching the players

On Golson...again

He had to develop confidence throughout the year. He knew he was "the guy" after the OU game.

Kelly knows Golson will have to make passing plays against Bama

On Notre Dame's renewed relevance..

After showing they could win against great programs, it solidified their independence as a program

How has Kelly evolved at Notre Dame?

The job distracts you. He made it a point to spend more time with his team this year, wanted to develop 18-20 year old guys. The most enjoyable year of coaching for him

On being an underdog all the time..

He doesn't use the underdog as being a motivation. He just focuses on having the team peak at the right time

Pretty redundant question.. Not sure who it was but though it was funny.

"Do you think Everett is going to have to make a few plays in the passing game being that Alabama is so tough on the run?"

Um yea?

On starting the season unranked to being the #1 team in the country..

Extremely proud of the staff and noticed that the players are always with each other even off the field. They care for each other and are a family

How his play calling had to change this year because of Golson..

Didn't want to use this year as a bridge year, he wanted to win this year. Wanted to win for the seniors.

On his past success at other schools. How is helped him today?

Says it makes him who he is today. Helps him put together a great staff and obviously helped him get to Notre Dame

To me, this game is going to be all about ND's defensive line. If Kap, Tuitt, Big Lou, et al, demand the attention of all 5 of Alabama's O linemen, then I like our chances. If they don't occupy the Offensive line, and Alabama is able to get linemen downfield to block our linebackers, then we will be in trouble. Allow Alabama to run the ball effectively, and we lose the game........ maybe big. I know that this D has been money against the run, all year. But this is an almost consensus "best offensive line in CFB" that the boys will be facing. It is going to be imperative that ALL of the D-line brings their A game. This game, perhaps more than any other game we played this year, will be won or lost in the trenches. The formula for winning this game is simple, and as basic as it gets: stop the run, and run the ball effectively. Alabama is a VERY good team. Allow them to do what's comfortable for them, and they will dominate you. Make them one dimensional on offense, and keep them on their heels on defense. Golson is probably going to need to get about 75 yards on the ground, unless we have a RB that just goes off. So his(Golson's) ball security is going to be critical.

I'm sure there will be some liberal substitutions on the line. More like one at a time to lesson the impact. Bama may have the best o-line in the country, but Stanford's o-line is damn good and I wouldn't rate them much behind the Tide. I think we held up well against them didn't we?

On the subject of Standford. I would say Standford front 7 on defense is better than the Tide's.

I wouldn't.

Although Stanford's LBs are some of the best in the nation.

Stanford was a good team for us to have played and beat.

IMO, they offer the most parallels to Bama.

I kinda looked at it that this would be Wood's audition for the NFL...ie I think he sees it somewhat that way...I think he runs like a man posessed, and he hangs a C-note on Bama.

I don't think Wood will get more carries than he usually does. I think he has run hard all year all year. However, Riddick's ability to go from running back to receiver is a much more difficult match up problem for Alabama.

Yes with Riddick on the field Saban has to decide if wants to play Nico Johnson or CJ Mosely at the Mike LB. If Mosely is in the game you run it right at him, Johnson you put Theo in the slot and throw it.

I think he gets more caries if it goes like I think it will. Of course he ran hard all year, but his touches were limited, and I'd argue that hurt his "stock". You telling me a guy never finds another level when all the motivations line up...lots of NFL stats beg to differ w/you.

Yea Theo is a bit of a challenge to defend...and yes, he'll get his shots, and cause problems...but if Wood is doing what I think he will, its just a safer bet to hand it off to a RB that is tearing it up...then run PA off of that.

Any chance Kelly throws both RBs out there and runs some triple option out of the spread?

Theo as dive back, wood as the pitch back.
