Yeah and that bothers me A LOT. Especially since so many all talking about how this opens up another scholarship for a better player.
I don't like the thought that we pushed him out to make room for other players. But I am ok if the coaches said, "we have guys that are higher on our board and you're welcome to stay...but just know that it'll be an uphill battle." But TP didn't make it sound like that.
Hey, Rack, bud,
I think there have been too many cynical viewpoints expressed throughout this process. If we talked to an Irish staffer, they would probably feel that if you weren't there you couldn't get it right by filling in the blanks. I bet that the coaching staff made their position plenty clear to recruits over the past several years, if not since Darby, Decker, and that other D-you-know-what. I bet that the rule was clear; if you look, we look. Kelly, two time coach of the year, has his detractors. But nobody accuses him of being unclear. This probably started with the recruit. That is why it was so slow. I would feel intimidated by the talent with this class. I personally didn't like how it was always about how the family felt about going to ND, not about how Danny felt. And there seems to be nowhere in the US as far from ND as the Pacific Northwest. I don't know why that is. So I think this is something that ended up going the distance because everybody had honor, and ended as more of a relief.
As for comments of posters, sometimes it is best not to comment, because anything you say looks insensitive, but I think those were the honest feelings of some posters that felt some loss. That's all I got, dude.
Bogs, out!
