It'll be ok guys lol. When your DC interviews for head jobs without having head coaching experience thats a damn good thing. That means you have a head coach that is building a program that starts with the staff. Players come and go, coaches do the same. Everyone on our staff minus Coach Elliott has similiar goals, who is to deny them that. My guess is a lot of you would interview for a better career job if the opportunity presented itself. Diaco is a great molder of men, and when he does take HC job, those future kids will be better bc he did.
Lol But my career goal is to be D Coordinator at ND!!!

If Diaco does except a job elsewhere who would take his spot as defensive coordinator for NC & what candidates are there to possibly bring in?

When programs win or do big things it's almost a given.

Exactly. I wish the best for Coach Diaco. He's done a ton to put ND football back where it belongs, and if he aspires to be a head coach I want that for him. My bias is that I'm not sure I'd want the BC job, but if I'm being honest its really, really good starter job.

If he does choose to move on, I wish him the best; I just hope he goes there with a ring on his finger. I'm sure he will want that, too. I don't doubt that he will be focused on the NCG even if he does take another job. As far as ND is concerned, Kelly has done a good job developing coaches as well as players. I think the staff will miss Diaco, but it will create an opportunity for another guy to step up and become the next hot coach.

In all honesty, this is probably the worst ND football issue we have heard this year (besides injuries)...compare that to last year. Then it isn't so bad.

I won't disagree with that, but I believe we all share the same sentiment when I say screw BC! Let them fall to division II. If he goes, let him go to Cal. He is obviously a great coach and I don't want to deny him opportunity, but first finish your obligation as DC for the Irish, then talk to other teams as long as they aren't BC, USC, UM, or MSU. There needs to be a contract stipulation keeping our coaches away from our rivals.

I don't see the appeal in BC. No recruiting area, conference that runs the risk of falling apart, apathetic fanbase in a pro sports town. Cal has an athletic department that is putting a lot of money into the football program with the renovation, is in California, and they are in the Pac-12. If it would come down to those 2, Cal is the obvious choice.

I would be a career ND assistant if given that opportunity at a minimum.

I'm sure he would stay for the champ game.

For future Martin could go possibly go back to defense. He was a DC for BK at GVSU. Maybe bring back Quinn from Buffalo as the OC. He was BK's OC at GVSU, CMU and Cincy. I was hoping we could have a few more years before this happened though.

I'm not a fan of this either.

How does it affect his prepartion for the biggest game of the millenium for ND?

How does it affect the current players?

How does it affect the recruits?

But a lot has to happen for him to take a HC job, and there's not a ton of time to do so. I predict he's just getting his feet wet, seeing what's out there. I doubt he takes a job this year. Not going to worry myself right now.

In all fairness BK left Cinci prior to their BCS game.

If he leaves we could also just promote from within and bring in more grad assistants.

Fun to imagine BK starting a ND coaching tree.

Yeah I think he gets a raise and some new job duties... If the next 2 seasons we do great I think he goes to a good program.

I do like the sound of this! I still would like for Diaco to stick around for a few more years though. I mean he's my avatar for Pete's sake.
