I know this... if Nd wins, no matter who they play... violent crime and head explosions with spike in the south hours after the game.

As much as I would love to beat Alabama, and I agree with everyone saying no one could dispute our championship in that case, I really want to play Georgia.

I just made up my mind today that Georgia needs to win for one reason. If Aaron Murray puts the hurt on the Alabama D then Manziel looks more human. Aside from the Alabama game, Manziel has racked up huge numbers against bad teams and has struggled and lost to good teams. Take Alabama out of the equation and Manziel has no chance at winning the Heisman. Alabama losing again is the closest thing to nullifying the Manziel win there.

Manti winning the Heisman + ND beating Georgia for the NC would be way better than just beating Alabama.

So if Georgia gets luck in their game vs. Alabama, and we beat Georgia, winning the national championship game, are we not the best since we didn't get to beat Alabama? Or do you not think Bama is better than UG?

Beating the SEC champ, whoever that may be, will suffice.

I don't care who we play so long as we win. If we beat Georgia some people might say something about "not beating the best" but it'll be really hollow. If Georgia beats Alabama they'll have beaten Florida and Alabama, they would be the best team in the SEC, thus making them the "best team in the nation" to the pundits.

I want Alabama for the historical reasons, but in terms of winning I would want Georgia. Both are good teams and won't be an easy win, but Saban is a much better coach than Mark Richt in my opinion. UGA is going to need to play lights out just to beat Bama this Saturday. We match up better with Bama's offense, but I think Bama is a better team overall. I'll be watching Saturday night and analyzing everything I can.

This post contains every important point that needs to be made in this thread.

Except the one point about SEC chauvinism . . .

If Georgia beats Bama and we beat Georgia, there will still be those who will say this wasn't one of the better Bama teams and we beat an SEC champion in a down year even though they claim the SEC is far superior to everyone else.

I'd rather play Alabama. The perception is that Alabama is the king of college football, and I also believe that we match up well with Alabama.

I am a little skeptical of Alabama's defense. They got lit up by A&M and played no one else with a pulse. I'm not saying they are bad, or even average, I just think we'd find some creases against their defensive line with Golson keeping them honest with his feet.

Our defense vs. their offensive line would be an awesome battle. Diaco is going to have to come up with some fire to get penetration through that line. We aren't going to be able to do it with 3/4 down linemen, he's going to have to take some pages out of the Philadelphia Eagles playbook when they had those sick defenses under Jim Johnson.

Georgia reminds me of USC. They've got enough talent to blow your doors off but are undisciplined and not very well coached. If they are "on" then they are great, but if not they are beatable for sure. I think theyve got the fire power to cause us problems, and I dont know if our offense would fare well in a race.

I want Bama.

Also, yeah Saban has a month to prepare, but BK and co have done GREAT with gametime adjustments. I dont doubt Brian Kelly would diagnose Sabans plan, and adjust hit attack.

I would love for Georgia to beat up on Bama, but more realistically I believe this will be a defensive battle with Bama on top 14-10.

I want Bama as well.

I certainly hope it's Alabama. I envy ND already having a secured spot in the game and wish Alabama were in your position.

What do you really get if you face Georgia though? It's a run of the mill team that has a reputation for folding up and under-performing. Their coach allows, through his indifference, about 40 players a season to be arrested and jailed for various offenses every single season.

They are the perpetual almosts and have no tradition, no history to speak of, no accomplishments that anyone knows about or can remember.

This is a time for Notre Dame to, once again after decades, shine on the national stage like they used to. What other team, what other name, what other force of nature would a real ND fan even consider facing in an ideal situation other than the very best in college football, The Alabama Crimson Tide.

This game is going to be for the ages, for the record books, for small children to talk about 30 years from now. It's two of the best college football teams to ever exist facing off in a match of epic proportions.

The Tide is Back/ Wake up the Echoes!!!

What? By hypothesis, we're assuming Georgia has beaten Alabama and Florida for the SEC championship and #2 in the country...That's not exactly "run-of-the-mill"...

But who are they, really, if you face them and they have beaten Alabama? They are still just Georgia. If you had a choice, and we're just hypothesizing like we are, would you rather play a Southern Cal in a championship game or a San Jose State team that, in another hypothetical situation, became eligible?

I want Bama. Georgia is far more explosive with those wide outs and those running backs. Plus Jarvis Jones is a monster . His performance against Florida was nothing short of spectacular. Bama has like one available receiver and they would just run the ball regardless . I don't think their runningbacks yeldon and lacy are nearly as good as gerley and Marshall. Regardless the breast running back we played all year was Stephan Taylor and we didn't do to bad against him. The only back that really went off on us was Ray Graham and none of Bama's backs are that good . We get pressure on McCarron and take advantage of some bad balls hell throw we should be good .

Our defense can match up with any offense. Just look at the types of offenses that we have played Almost any type of offense that CFB can dream up, ND has played against it.

And while our offense struggles in the red zone, we try to run an uptempo offense, so there won't be too many wrinkles that ND has not seen from opposing offenses all year.

All I know is that after today I'm not going to pay attention to the media until January 7th.

"How badly will vastly, incredibly, ridiculously, ludicrously, absurdly, titanic-ally overrated Notre Dame lose to the mighty SEC? Coming up on Sportscenter!"

"Where would ND have finished in the SEC this year? Our panel agrees: Dead last! Next on CFB Daily!"

Alabama is the better team, which we happen to match up better with.

My heart says Georgia wins today though.

Then on the 7th ND over Georgia for the chip.

Chip? That game will be the championship game, not the Fiesta bowl, lol.
