I'm actually hoping Collin Klein has an amazing game against Texas.

My theory is that he can steal enough votes from Manziel. The people that want to vote for Manti will do it regardless of Klein. But the others could be persuaded to put Klein ahead of Manziel on their ballots.

That's a good point. Manti's best shot at winning now is probably for Klein to split the QB vote.

I think the problem is going to be that no one is going to vote Manziel out of the top 2 while if Klein has an out of this world type game he could take a lot of the second place votes from Manti.

Listening to Sports Animal radio here in Tulsa, OK area. Pat Jones former OSU coach of Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas. He is talking up Manti. Better news is that two Heisman voters on the show with him are speaking strongly about Manti as the best candidate as well. The basis for their reasoning was Notre Dame is 12-0 and playing for National Title. The reason they are undefeated is their defense. The heart and anchor the defense is Manti, not to metion his 7 picks.

The two voters were Al Jerkins (KJRH) and Jimmie Tramel (Tulsa World).

Honestly, trying to look at it objectively, that's how I see it. Like Kelly said, if Manti doesn't win the Heisman, let's just officially redefine it as an offensive award. He's the best player on the best team in the country. He has been all over the field all season. Love Johnny Football but he hasn't shown the same consistency. 3 INTs against LSU, zero TDs? Like others have said, this guy is Colin Klein ... only difference is his weaker games came earlier in the season, before the huge upset win over 'Bama (in which he threw 2 INTs and needed his defense to come up with a huge INT of its own in the end zone).

Like I think gkIrish said, here's hoping that Klein and Manziel cancel out and Manti comes out on top. That's how it should be, anyway.

List of Heisman voters if you want to do some grassroots campaigning...

Heisman Voters - Stiff Arm Trophy

Many ballots have probably already been sent in... all ballots are due Monday.

Some of yoyu may have scoffed at my idea, but I contacted about 30 of the voters (would have done more but work keeps getting in the way). Here's what I said.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

I find it strange that that Johnny Manziel fits this statement with his arrest earlier this year, but more importantly how he can be the leading candidate at this point? Klein of KSU has one bad game and gets discarded, yet Manziel has two bad games and doesn't seem to get penalized for them. He was great against Alabama, but he wasn't against LSU or UF. Also, keep in mind that a good portion of his stats were garnered playing lower level schools.

QB's have been putting up ridiculous numbers for the past 10-12 years and they keep getting broken. Johnny's will certainly be broken in the not too distant future. It seems to me the more deserving winner is Manti Teo rather than the "flavor of the month".

Whiskeyjack,

I don't think the Sooners deserve a BCS bowl. I will be rooting for KSU to beat Texas because Sooners will cut there own throat before rooting for the horns. The Sooners aren't a BCS caliber team this year. Realisitically, we haven't beat any really good teams. We probably could have beat KSU but we didn't and thats the facts we have to deal with. ND beat us without question. OU has a couple turds on the team that need to be alleviated. My hope is that with Bell at QB the sooners have to run the ball more, which I believe will only strengthen this team.

Since you guys are getting some SEC trolls:

Ask them why they won't come to Norman and play a non-conference game. ND had the balls to do it and OU will return the favor next year when we travel to South Bend. Ask the SEC why they won't come to Norman, South bend, Oregon. I guess Louisiana monroe kind of shook things up for them. Then Texas A&M who was always a middle of the pack Big 12 school shakes up the SEC a little bit and is now ranked 8th in the nation. The SEC is the most overated conference in all of sports.

Yeah I guarentee Louisisna Monroe is removed from a ton of the SEC schools that look for a easy guarenteed win. Need to have easier OOC games so they can pad their stats to look like the best conference, and or look like they deserve the heisman.

Well, that pretty much sums up Manti.

Little fuzzy on how this works. So would Manti's "7/2" be equal to 3.5/1?

Manziel is 1/6 to win. That means that a $100 bet on Manziel only pays out ~$17 if he wins.

Te'o is 7/2 to win. So, a $100 bet on Te'o would pay out $350 if he wins.

In other words, Manziel is about 20x more likely to win the Heisman than Te'o.

Your math is correct but the statement is wrong. Manti will win this.

I wonder what the consequences were? He didn't miss any games did he? Probably had to stand up in front of the team and apologize.

I found this in a NY Times article where his Dad gave this summary
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/24/sports/ncaafootball/keeping-heisman-contender-johnny-manziel-on-target-and-in-line.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Johnny Manziel was to be subject to random drug testing, undergo drug and alcohol counseling, complete more community service and have a daily schedule “mapped out to the minute"

"Dat Nguyen's 1998 team won the Big 12 and beat #1 Kansas State and #2 Nebraska.
His stats:
147 tackles
20 tackles for loss
4 sacks
4 forced fumbles
4 INTs
1 TD

Teo'o's stats in 2012:
103 tackles
5.5 tackles for loss
2 sacks
0 forced fumbles
7 INTs
0 TDs

Nguyen won the Bednarik and Lombardi awards. He was a runner up for the Butkus. Guess what? He wasn't even invited to NYC."

So your logic why Teo shouldn't get it is because your guy didn't get it back in 1998. LOL Nice.

Nguyen was a great player and should've been in that discussion. However, the Heisman voting seems more likely to consider defensive players then it did back in 1998.

And Case Keenum in 2011 had more total yards and more total TDs then Manziel. Houston also went 13-1.

Another Sumlin guy! But don't dare suggest that Manziel's a system QB. I mean, he plays in the ESS EE SEEEEEEE.

And Sumlin is overrated.....Keenum was the glue. Not only that, but played only 1 team that season with a winning record (southern miss) and got smoked. He was very average before that season.

Can't wait until the Ags find out he's a fraud.

Just waiting for a logical reason for JM to be a Heisman front runner. Looking back at the BCS rankings you will find that A&M has ranked:

Week 8: 18

Week 9: 20

Week 10: 16

Week 11: 15

Week 12: 8

Week 13: 9

Week 14: 9

The computers have never liked A&M either. During any given week the highest they were ever ranked in any computer was 8th. ND has been Top 5 BCS and never was ranked any lower then 5th the entire BCS season. Meanwhile a guy like Barner gets no love. Why nothing for Barner?

You are SPOT ON!!!

Case Keenum shoulda won this thing 3 years in a row compared to Johhny:

2008 yards: 5241 TDs: 51
2009 yards: 5829 TDs: 48
2011 yards: 5666 TDs: 51

Makes so much sense to compare different years of football, doesn't it?

And where's BJ Symon's heisman with 5976 total yards in 2003?
Or Graham Harrell's Heisman? where's that? 5700 yds 52 tds in '07

C'mon! can't compare like that...it makes zero sense!
