Not mad at you dude. You and I have been posting stats complementing each team. Have I yelled or said anything harsh? You have presented stats, I am presenting mine. Show me where my stats are fluff related.

I am starting to think you can dish it, but can't take it. I am doing the exact same thing you are doing, finding stats and posting them. Right??? If you think I am going to sit here and watch a VISITOR to my(our) site and down us by showing stats and not let me rebut with more stats, you are sadly mistaken. Anyone else found it convenient that this guy built his defense of bama’s title claims on the premise that certain things happened before the BCS and such and you can’t hold past goings on to current standards, bascially everything must be held to the standards of the year they occured... then a couple of pages later he suggests ND should be held to today's D1 and D1A standards for eras that occured before such things even existed in terms fo scheduling....???

You know, that USA-Today list has NOTHING to do with student athletes, right?? I don't know where anyone knocked Bama from an overall educational standpoint. There was a comment about comparing FOOTBALL player academic performance between the two schools. That's where you can look at GRAD RATES. Not so good for Bama, especially in regards to African-American players (57% grad rate) versus white players (75% grad rate)

According to CoSIDA, who award the Academic All-Americans, Alabama is actually 8th since 2000 - neck-and-neck with Calvin College with 62. Not sure where you derived 5th from; must be like how Bama fans count obscure football rankings - does the Tuscaloosa Times have an All-Akademick team too??? Seriously, eighth is still pretty admirable, a little behind ND at #2 with 96, and Nebraska with 107.

Looking all-time, Bama isn't even in the Top 20, but you still have a slight lead on Truman State (I think they are one of your perennial football rivalries as well, right?? ). I guess it sucks to be behind your SEC brethren; Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are all 6+ places ahead of Bama on the list. Oh, and in your earlier posts concerning how closely Bama matches with ND (you were talking football records), the all-time AAA recognitions: ND=222; Bama=less than half of that at 98.

The facts are, as there are stats to prove it, Notre Dame has played more non-1A teams than Alabama has. I mean, that is pretty much it.

Unless, as you say, Notre Dame football began in the 1970's and I just can't believe many ND fans would go for that.

No, but for the last 40 years Bama has scheduled 2 or 3 cupcakes each year. If ND would have done this, the numbers would be untouchable.

All the excitement of beating WF, then seeing KSU go down, and then seeing Oregon go down. And then the ND fans realizing, oh crap, now we might have to play Alabama for the championship.

I told him their conversation was ridiculous because A.) Not realizing that the average ND fan has been fully aware of this potential matchup for weeks now, and B.) More than a few ND fans fully embrace this matchup for a variety of reasons, not the least being that we know we can match up with them.

This is the kind of crap that for weeks now has had me hoping we would play Bama if we make it to the NCG. Variations of this conversation are rampant all over the place. And nothing - nothing - would do more to shut them up than for us to play and beat Alabama to win the national championship.

Funny when I was 10 years old in 74 my father moved us from Jersey to Alabama, the first question asked in school who is you favorite football team! I said the Steelers! Alabama's two defeats were both by SHUTOUTS. Once by Miss St 14-0 in Tuscaloosa and the other by Vandy 7-0 in Nashville.

Alabama placed #20 out a total of 20 ranked teams in the Final AP Poll taken at the end of the season in 1941 before the Exhibition bowl games. Alabama was 8-2 at the time of the vote and garnered at total of 6 points on the 95 ballots cast on a point basis of 20 for a First, 19 for a Second, and so forth down to 1 point for a #20 vote. Minnesota 8-0 finished First with 84 First Place Votes and 946 points. Duke, 9-0, was second with 9 First Place Votes and 726 points. Notre Dame, 8-0-1, was third with 675 points. Texas, 7-1-1 was fourth with 1 First Place and 495 points. Missouri was Seventh with the remaining First Place Vote and 328 points. #8 Duquense was one of four undefeated teams and got 310 votes. Alabama with TWO losses got only 6 points our of a possible 1900 points but claimed a National Championship.
