Changes nothing. We needed two of them to lose at some point last week. We need two of them to lose at some point this week.

Well it changes everything. A KSU loss with us at #3 means we are #2 and totally #1 on the computers. Now we need 2 of them the lose.

Lets not get excited and enjoy our Fiesta or Rose bowl game.

No surprise. Have to win out and hope for two loses. It's to bad USC sucks and can't play defense.

Of the 3 teams in front of us, who do you guys think is most and least likely to lose? I'll say KSU is most likely to lose and Oregon is least likely.

Right now it's all about strength of schedule not style points. The big change this week was only due to Ore playing a top 20 team and winning, and us playing a 4-4 team.

I think he meant it changes nothing in the sense that Oregon was going to jump us regardless, based on their remaining schedule compared to ND's. Also, ND's remaining schedule is not strong enough to merit a jump over K-State.

So in a sense, it really does change nothing. The number changed, but the situation is still the same.

Oregon was always going to jump us if they beat USC. We were playing Pitt and were only .001 ahead.

True.

Lets win out and take the lumps knowing we had the toughest preseason schedule in the nation and the haters kept us out.

Not bad considering we started unranked.

Next year we come out with a chip on our shoulder.

-or-

We win out and two teams lose.

I think they will.

I agree. I think it goes K-State, Bama, then Oregon.

Kansas State, with or without Klein, has three tough games left. TCU can keep the score low enough to have a chance, Baylor has the ability to run with K-State in a track meet, and Texas could certainly ride their win over Tech to a strong finish.

Bama is going to get Texas A&M's best shot, but Manziel is going to have to play flawless, especially in the first half. If A&M can get a lead early, Bama won't be able to pound them into submission. Also, they can't overlook Western Carolina. And I think Georgia/Florida could run with them on a good day. So there is hope.

I honestly don't see anybody stopping Oregon's offense. The hope here is that Stanford or Oregon State can control enough clock to stay within a score, and hope to make a play late. Highly unlikely with how efficiently Chip Kelly gets all of that speed to operate.

EDIT: yes, I did copy and paste my own post, which was quickly burried by the updated BCS standings.

Yep.

By the way, does anyone know the updated odds of all four going undefeated?

Oregon was always going to pass us eventually once their SOS got beefed up. That was apparent when we only had a .01 lead on Oregon after beating OK. We needed two of the three to lose.

That right there is our biggest problem at this point. We had way too far to climb because of our preseason ranking. So, despite being undefeated against our strong early schedule, we are stuck at #4 in both polls. It takes a lot to jump other undefeated teams in human polls, and we haven't been able to do it.

Totally agree Killz that it's impressive that we've made it this far.

I'd rather finish undefeated with a Fiesta or Rose bowl victory than get destroyed in the NC game. Just my opinion.

I think Stanford and Oregon will be an interesting game. Stanford should steal ND's philosophy and play ball control. I think theyll be able to run the ball on Oregon. I also think that Oregons offense runs on timing, and Stanfords defensive line could give them fits.

I don't think Stanford matches up well with Oregon. I dont think this Stanford team is as good as its teams from the past two years and those teams gave up 50+ points to Oregon.

Stanford's schedule coming up gets real tough...and i think they fall out of the Top 25 by losing 2 of their next 3.

I truly thought Oregon's best chance of losing was to USC yesterday night. I'd like to see USC get another shot at them. If USC wins out then they would get their rematch in the Pac-10 championship.

Do you believe ND would get destroyed in a NC game?

I honestly think ND's best matchup would be Bama. I know Oregon hasn't faced an actual defense yet, but all that speed still frightens me. Whereas ND is built to stop power offenses, and that's what Bama is.

Here is the point I'm at right now:

If there are going to be 3 undefeated teams and ND gets left out, there may as well be 4 undefeated teams so ND can play the other one. This will create a huge and I mean huge mess, to the point the BCS may consider revising to a 4 team playoff 2 years early....wouldn't that be crazy?

Of the top three teams I think I'd prefer to play: 1. Alabama 2. KSU 3. Oregon

Oregon loses to USC in the PAC12, KSU loses next week. ND-AL in the NC game. So it is written.

It's VERY likely that ND will be in the NC game if they win out. Just take care of business, boys.
