I started plucking out my eyelashes, and then drank half a bottle of rubbing alcohol. I woke up at a Walgreens with a cop kicking me in the stomach. I ran into a yard and then used my phone to find a way home.

Are you Tommy Rees?

Don't forget, goalline fumbles were things we didn't come back from last year. And the whole "reproducing the snap count" was clearly bogus. So we overcame some adversity here. It's not like this game was a complete step-back.

That call was one of the most ridiculous calls i've seen in a long time especially in OT. How else do you get the front to shift? You must use a voice command. Big East refs = Bitter...

Well they did give us a td after the phantom pass interference so I'd cut them some slack

This is why I am so glad that I ignore this site during games. I am pretty sure that I would get banned. Other than that, what a gutsy performance from EG!! I love that kid!!

Just watched the post game press conference on Sports Center. Some jackass reporter asked Kelly about Nix supposedly being sick and something else about chicken soup. Kelly slapped the MF down. LOL! Who the hell was that idiot?

More details please...how loud was it during the OTs?!

It was insane. Crowd was really into it even when it was 20 to 9 or whatever. 70 year old dudes from Chicago behind us we're partying and totally into it and were our new best friends. Never hugged so many strangers outside of the peace be with you thing at Mass. Cray cray.

Only complaints I have with the coaching staff was:
-Starting Rees in the second half
-Not trying to win it in regulation

Golson doesn't get tripped up if he's not under center.

Kelly did get P.O.d and smacked the reporter down. BUT ... I think the reporter was alluding to Irish Lore, Joe Montana's Chicken Soup Game where he played with the flu and the trainers fed him Chicken Soup throughout the game to combat dehydration.

"Health food" also played a part in the '66 Game of the Century against MSU. The ND QB was injured early in the game and backup QB Coley O'Brien played 3 quarters in his stead. The problem was O'Brien had been diagnosed that week with diabetes and the medical staff was trying to work out his insulin balance. It was a lot more voodoo than science back then. Now glucose meters, no insulin pens. The medical staff fed him candy bars trying to balance the sugar he was burning up in the game.

The question was cryptic. The reporter commented on Nix being kept out but then went in to play anyway. He asked "was it chicken soup?" Kelly not familiar with Irish Lore thought the reporter was sniping at Nix for dogging it and defended his player.

Kelly responded with a glare, "What do you want me to say? I don't understand your question. I don't care for your tone."

Kelly then tersely noted that Nix was sick. He had spent two nights in the hospital and despite the lingering effects, he suited up and played hard.

The presser only last for another question or two, one of which was answered with a one word response, "NO".

If Kelly wasn't aware of the Irish lore, that's completely understandable. I just thought it was funny that the reporter said "supposedly" instead of "reportedly". I'll have to watch it again to see if that's what he said though.

Listen to Kelly's post game presser. He noted that Golson was missing things he shouldn't be missing at this point. He was pressed for details in Q&A and he passed. The reporter (or another one) pressed it and Kelly responded, "Progressions and reading coverages". Kelly described it as a teaching moment. Kelly also pointed out that on the tying TD, the first progression was a rollout throw to Toma, the second a pass to Eifert, and the third, a QB keeper. Kelly pointed out that Golson made the right read on all three progressions and Kelly wasn't about to remove him after that successful play.

Ill admit, I had very little faith.

They looked dead in the water. I'm glad I had a two year old running around to keep my rage in check haha

He did say supposedly which is similar to reportedly but I believe either word would have triggered Kelly's momma bear snarl looking out for the cubs. I don't think the reporter was trolling at all. I knew there were some that were sick but I don't recall reading that Nix was one of them.

Even if the reporter had prefaced the question with something like, "Forty years ago ND won the a great victory over Texas due to chicken soup. Was that the magic medicine again today?" I suspect Kelly would have said, "What are you talking about?"

Miscommunication, nothing more. But it was made clear, don't speak ill of my players!
