Derek Fooley is down to his final 5 games here in Knoxville.
Traveled down here this week to see family and went to the UT/Bama game, and Fooley just continues to embarrass himself. I have been telling everyone since they hired him that it was a big mistake, and they're finally listening to me.
I found it utterly hilarious tonight with around 2 minutes left, down 44-10, he decides to kick a FG from about the 10 yard line instead of going for the TD. Everyone in the place was wondering wtf Fooley was thinking....

I know it's only his first year but I worry for Weis. The conflagration in Kansas appears to be fully engaged, and I don't think his "Super Bowl Rings" recruiting pitch is going to work as well this time around. His term might be nasty, brutish and short.

I was thinking the same thing. They are pathetic.

Jimmy is collecting cash money at mighty Ak-Ron for doing absolutely nothing..... He'd be a fool to move now considering he has a show-cause following him around for the next 5 years.

Dooley coached the game sitting on a stool due to his fractured hip.

I understand the Rocky Top fans were hoping he'd stand on it as they had a knotted rope awaitin'. They figured the goal posts at Neyland might finally get put to benefical use this season.

Interesting tidbit on Dooley-- a big factor in hiring him stemmed from a recommendation from one Nick Saban. As is known, Dooley worked for Saban at LSU.

I guess there are 2 ways to look at that for UT: 1) We'd be fools not to hire a coach who comes highly recommended from perhaps the best guy in the biz. 2) Or now what seems like the more likely scenario-- Saban tells Alabama's 2nd biggest rival, "Yeah, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY HIRE DEREK DOOLEY. HE'S GREEAAATTTT."

In the 3 years they been meeting Dooley has a perfect record, 0-3. But his '12 team breakthrough high in scoring against Saban Saturday:

UTN ALA

'10: 10-41
'11: 6-37
'12: 13-44

Total: 29-122

Avg: 10-41

He's making progress then. UT should keep him.

I'm sure is Saban's reached out to again about his opinion, he'd say to keep him!

I was watching the game at a bar here in Nashville with some UT fans and I laughed when he kicked that FG real late. Good call, Dooley, good call.

UW was NOT picked to do great things. I believe bowl eligible was about it. UW's played the second toughest schedule according to Sagarin. #6 LSU,#22 SU, #2 ORE, #10 USC.

Next week they have #8 Ore St, then Cal, Utah, CU, and WSU. CU and WSU should be gimmes so UW has to win one of Cal or Utah to go bowling.

If he beats Cal and Utah both, he'll match last year's win total. Fans might not be happy but that shouldn't be firing territory. Historically UW is about a 7 win program.

Skip Holtz lost again snatching defeat from unbeaten UL. USF is 2-5 and dead last is the BE.

He's got SYR, CON, MIA, UC, and PIT left. They might not be favored in any of them at best probably about 3 pts. They'll be a TD dog at MIA and a 2 TD dog at UC.

They can only lose one more and still be bowl eligibile.

Gene Chizik needs to go, that guy stinks! He only won that championship because he went out and spent money on a quarterback

My money would be on Chizik getting canned after Alabama beats Auburn by 50+ in the iron bowl.

Just took a casual glance at the South Florida boards and nearly every thread is calling for Skip's head.

Just because I live in TN and listen to the local sports shows i decided to get on one of the vols forums and their outlandish claims are incredible! Every other person has a contact in the AD's office and on the football team. Some of the thread names... 7 year 40 million noon presser (For gruden). Dooley visits team and says goodbye (football players posting all over twitter saying he met with team to say bye...but with no twitter postings at all). They actually have a sub forum all for coaching change rumors.

I haven't been a member of this forum long but I haven't seen any completely over the top claims like that. I am tempted to start an account just to fuel the fire. "Dooley storms into meeting with AD and gruden and beats both to death with crutches during contract signing. Cheer leading coach promoted to head coach and pat summit returns from retirement to take DC job from sal."

On ESPN's Recruiting News pod cast last week they said something about Al Golden leaving Miami for Boston College. Seems like a step back sanction or not.

It's not if they get destroyed. He also will be with kids who are more about an education. You can call me an *** or whatever you want, but kids at Miami are generally not as academically invested as they are at BC. You will get more disciplined kids at BC to build a program. Couple that with the horrible sanctions which are looking inevitable at this point, and it really isn't a step back. There will be a talent gap but he can close that by building a program like he did at Temple.

This actually wouldn't surprise me. He's a Northeast guy and Miami is going through such chaos. I'd want out.

I don't think you are wrong but why BC? When jobs like Auburn and Tennesee are going to be open just don't see that move?

It's just an option. Of course Auburn and Tennessee would be attractive, but getting a program to the top of the SEC will be significantly harder than it will be to get BC to the top of the ACC. You also have to factor in the quality of kids you can recruit, which would be substantially better in the SEC, but everyone is grabbing them. It's a toss-up and he very well could go to Tennessee or Auburn if they open up, but I don't think it's confounding as to why he would go to BC.

Don't you feel the pool of talented players is larger in the other teams than it is at BC? The pool BC is pulling from is most like picked over by ND and other ACC schools.
