I would like to see a team challenge the no walk-through rule and bring it up with the NCAA... just to see what happens and to give U$C bad publicity.

USC even being mentioned as a possiblitity to win the BSC this year removes all of what little credibility the NCAA had left. They were so unaffected by the NCAA's sanctions, that their first year off, they are being picked to win it all. What a joke.

I agree and his comments about it were ridiculous "It's not that big of a deal" and he doesn't want other teams messing up the field.

Brady Hoke suspended Fitz for the (arguably) most important game of the season (I say arguably because a Big Ten championship, etc. could be more meaningful) for a DUI that was plead down to a misdemeanor driving while impaired.

Lane Kiffin doesn't suspended a reserve linebacker for a meaningless game against Hawai'i after the linebacker was convicted on two felonies, served 3.5 months of a year sentence in jail, and just got out of prison.

I've always loathed Michigan more than USC.... but this is the kind of thing that makes me respect Hoke a lot more and hate Kiffin as a human being even more than I thought was possible.

Oh, and that "no walkthrough" thing is absurd.

Respect Hoke, still hate Michigan and I seriously hope there is an afterlife because Lane sold his soul to the devil a long time ago.

IF he fulfilled his legal obligations there is no bar by the NCAA nor USC to prevent him attending school nor being on athletic scholarship.

If Floyd had gotten 6 months in jail and fulfilled the law's and ND's requirements, would he not have been taken back? Isn't Reconciliation a Catholic principal?

The issue is the dirty dealing with the player that got kicked to the curb to put this guy back on scholarship. Onehad lost his scholarship while the other guy earned one. Granted scholarships are for a year but Kiffin could have told the other kid, "We'll renew your scholarship if we have room." He didn't. His comment about not talking to walk-ons is BS spin. The kid stopped being a walk-on when Kiffen awarded him a scholarship. Kiffin had an obligation to talk to him.

This is how I look at it too, BGIF. Toying with the walk-ons like this is really unfair. You can't act like the scholarship money and status as a scholarship athlete aren't a big deal. I mean Kelly got emotional when he told Chris Salvi and his family that he would be able to offer Chris a scholarship. Kiffin couldn't even give a $hit. What a jerk.

Even Meyer at Florida had the stones to suspend Dunlap (I think?) for a meaningful game for a DUI mid-season...

Brady Hoke suspended Fitz for the (arguably) most important game of the season (I say arguably because a Big Ten championship, etc. could be more meaningful) for a DUI that was plead down to a misdemeanor driving while impaired.

These posts fail to account for the timing of the incidents, though. Toussaint pleaded guilty this week, didn't he? Hoke can't let a guy plead guilty to a drunk-driving offense on Tuesday and play football on Saturday. Dunlap's DUI was also mid-season, wasn't it?

On the other hand, Vehikite, like Floyd, was arrested and sentenced in the off-season, so there was an opportunity to atone for the offense before the season started, which Vehikite did. He was thrown off the team as soon as he was arrested in March, then in May he went to JAIL. I mean, Toussaint pled down, so for very serious conduct (drunk-driving) he will get a light punishment from the state, so suspension is warranted to make sure he is adequately punished for the offense. Vehikite went to county jail, so you might say that's all the more reason why USC doesn't need to suspend him. Three months in jail is punishment enough.

I'm not saying Kiffin isn't a snake, but I don't know the full circumstances (has Vehikite been in trouble before? what kind of kid is he?) so I don't know that it's fair to say that letting Vehikite back on the team is particularly snakish behavior.

No surprise

No surprise

It is what it is. A faux, fake, phony, ersatza, pseudo, imitation football factory versus a real academic institution. USC is USC. Notre Dame is Notre Dame.

Obliviously this week's keffining. He does it because he can. He does this type of thing against weak teams who can't do anything about it. Why was he going for two anyway against Colorado ? Because he could.

Swapping jersey numbers in the middle of the game is legal? It was a beyond low move but it shouldn't be legal in the first place.

It is legal and is sometimes done when the number may be confusing as when a defensive tackle or guard may come in as an "H" back or fullback when a down lineman is in a game with the same number. I know of only one instance when it was used with the intent of misleading the opponents.

Well as much as anyone here I can' t stand SUC or Kiffen, but maybe he was relaying a message to his team that you treat every game, or opponent the same way. Plan and practice like the every game counts. I know I'm giving thrle idiot too much credit. GO IRISH

But shouldn't there be? I mean, even win-at-all-costs Oregon has SOME principles:

Rodney Woods gets second chance at Oregon - College Football - ESPN

Rodney Woods is determined to make the most of his second chance.

Three years ago, the promising cornerback spent nearly a year in jail for felony assault, a charge that was later reduced to a misdemeanor so he could accept a football scholarship to Oregon.

I'm not defending USC. Trust me, I'm not. I have some insight into them that isn't pretty (more about that another time). Probation and scholarship reductions don't usually hit a team hard until the 3 year. Most of your starters are 3rd & 4th year players. Having small freshman and sophmore classes usually doesn't affect performance on the field too much. In those 3rd and 4th years when you're woefully thin at jr's and sr's though, it shows.

USC should never have been preseason #1. Everyone was enthralled by the quality of their starters and failed to see they had no depth at all due to the lost scholarships. They'll suck for another year or two at least, and maybe a lot more with Kiffin at the helm.

Oh yeah... Bishop, the link to the USC putting a felon back on their team and cutting another kid from scholarship is on the front page of this thread. Never did grab you that link.

OK, my two cents on USC - and it's a mixed bag. In the interests of full disclosure: my wife's a USC grad. My mother-in-law got her doctorate from USC and retired from there as a professor. Neither are big USC footbal fans, though my wife will occassionally pretend to be just to jerk my chain a bit. She's actually a Bama fan now and is ambivalent towards the Trojans. She does have a USC song girls outfit she wears for me occassionally, but that's an entirely different discussion. OK, not really, but I had to throw that in there for fun! lol

I understand the ND hatred for USC. There's a lot there to dislike, and they're worse than most, but not the worst by far. Bama has some history with them, but nothing particularly good or bad, so I have no real emotional issues with them either way.

Kiffin's an idiot. He's an immature and frequently dishonest idiot with all the character of a styrofoam cup. He's Britney Spears with a coach's whistle and little more. He was even worse during his 1 year in the SEC than he's been at USC. His one redeeming thing is his hot wife, and we hate him for being able to get her when he's such an idiotic schmuck. Not that he had any other direction to go, but he does appear to have finally realized he's been a big-mouthed, immature schmuck a lot and finally started to grow up a little lately. Still a work in progress with a long way to go.

Finally, USC's biggest problem was probably Mike Davis. Total scum. My mother-in-law was a professor of education and spent a few years at USC as basically the head of academics for the athletic department. Her job was to monitor the academic progress of USC athletes, be their academic advisor, oversee tutoring programs for them, keep them eligible and on track academically, etc. She worked more or less directly for Davis. She despises him. Doesn't think he has a single redeeming quality. Says he was total scum with no morals or ethics. She said him getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to USC. She likes Pat Hayden, but thinks it will take him a few years to clean up Davis' mess.

Are you telling me your wife was a song girl?!?! If so, you are welcome to stay and you will have amnesty henceforth if you provide pics. Also, you're the man.
