I don't know how much of a shot we have as his brother is a RS frosh at Alabama and they are considered the heavy favorites. Yes I know we got Heuerman and lead for Jaylon who both have brothers at other universities but Tyler also didn't know much at all about ND's TE history or that Tyler Eifert is the best TE in CFB.

Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame and Miami are the teams currently standing out. Does like what he is hearing from Denbrock about ND's TE success.

Since ND is already in his top group and he only knows of Eifert I think ND can gain a lot of ground once this all plays out and he takes a visit to ND and knows more about the history of the TE at South Bend to be specific.

Hard to wrap my head around this. You don't have to be a fan of ND or live in the vicinity of the University to know they put TEs in the League. We may not pull the #1 TE in every class, but they should at the very least, give a hard look. I hope as the cycle progresses, we see an increase in interest from this kid.

Edit: Sorry for the bump w/o any news on Tyler's recruitment. I'm bored at work already...

Coach and Principal are extremely high on the Irish and the coach staff (as evidenced by the aforementioned pictures). Early favorites are the Irish, Wolverines, Trojans, Tide and Buckeyes.

His brother is an OL at Bama.

They're independent as Luatua is a '14 recruit.

Tyler Luatua, TE, La Mirada (CA): The 6-foot-3 and 230-pound play-maker is one of the nation's top players, regardless of position. In the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Luatua is the No. 1 tight end and country's No. 33 individual overall. Alabama and USC are considered as the front-runners for him at this stage of the game. Notre Dame is in the mix and Luatua recently said that he's been impressed with what the Fighting Irish bring to the table.
