Interesting stuff for sure.
I would offer that since this is an anonymous and open internet message board, no one can really expect to dictate what others should/shouldn't post. (Mods excluded of course, mostly) From my own experience, I read posts that are irritating and I have this overwhelming need to respond. I mostly talk my self out of it because it's an anonymous board and wasting time wading into a discussion that rarely gets resolved in a fruitful manner is just, well fruitless.
I appreciate the diversity here and really appreciate the Notre Dame info this site provides. As big of a fan I have always been, there is no question I am better fan since I began reading IE. Now there's good with the bad, the good far outweighs the bad. Discussing x's and o's, or the value of a recruit is good stuff. Discussion in this thread is just hyperbole because someone feels slighted or belittled.
I would hope, and expect, that no one can get any real sense of validation or improved self worth because you feel you have won an argument on a message board. Now, put everyone in the same room, face to face, and you can feel validated but i expect most of these little dust-ups would never happen. People tend to be not so tough in person.
I've now contributed nothing to a subject that is just part of the nature of the venue. I may ban myself for at least a moment.
Go Irish!
