Apparently some "spert" got the idea Kelly was pushing a concussed EG into action based on his own judgment...

It is obvious the "spert" didn't understand that Kelly has been paraphrasing the TEAM DOCTOR's expectation...and of course the rag best viewed at the bottom of a bird cage put it in circulation...

Here is some of what the Spert said and the Chicago same-trivial-tune put in circulation...

"If it was up to me, the Notre Dame coach would be fined for that statement because he's now put expectations on (Golson),'' said Nowinski, the co-founder of the Sports Legacy Institute. Nowinski also is the co-director of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy at Boston University."

The Chicago Tribune constantly hates on ND, hence me not being subscribed and not being able to read the article.

Heck-they still hate on Weis. Did you see the article titled something like "Weis is a loser" posted last week. They are so biased-very dissapointing.

They should ban Brian Hamilton from the campus for a week, just so they have no one there while everyone wants a piece of this Irish program.

^^ What the hell is that Gif from???

A drunk girl on a Cleveland public bus was taunting and yelling at a bus driver, spit on him, and hit him. So naturally, he got up and uppercutted her. The contact he made with the underside of her jaw was nothing less than perfect.

He's been calling in during press conferences this year. Doesn't even bother making the trip to campus. Kelly smirks when Hamilton asks a question over the phone, quite humorous.

Better would be NOT linking his articles to this site.

The sad part is Hamilton isn't even the worst the Tribune has to offer when it comes to ND. David Haugh is total low life. I love how the Chicago radio stations brought him on for his "spert" opinion when that horrific Alan Pinkett situation happened. They love to talk about everything bad that happens at ND.

I've never thought the Trib was all that bad. But this article is garbage. It's what every coach does, every team doctor does, and every athletic trainer does. There are protocols in place. He listed the protocols.

He even said, if he's not clear of symptoms, we'll push back the phase in until he is (paraphrasing). I heard someone argue that Golson could lie about having a headache or not. True. That's why they also do cognitive testing.

My wife is an athletic trainer. I actually read Kelly's comments and thought, "I love how he's giving the sports medicine staff so much respect."

Stupid.

Interesting.....oh, the hypocrisy; maybe Nowinski can take Kelly's fine out of the $20K that the Boston Bruins donated to SLI (http://sportslegacy.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Bruins-Grant-Press-Release.pdf). I mean, the Bruins never put expectations on recovery, do they?!?!?!

GM expects Horton to recover for '12-13 - Boston Bruins Blog - ESPN Boston

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said Friday that he expects winger Nathan Horton to recover fully from his concussion and be ready for the 2012-13 season.

"It's not 100 percent, but in my experience with the concussions here, the information the doctors give me following the concussions and shortly in the rehab period, they've been spot on," Chiarelli said.
And, this was after Horton's 2nd concussion

So now we should fine people for putting expectations on young men? For Christ's sake.... who is this nut job? News Flash, Mr. Nowinski: Everett Golson is the starting QB at the University of Notre Dame. HE'S "MAJORING" IN EXPECTATIONS! That earthquake you just felt was the tremor of Bear Bryant, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Knute Rockne, and Darrell Royal all simultaneously rolling over in their graves.

I'd be the first one to criticize Kelly if he pushed a kid back too early. You don't mess with concussions. That's why Golson was pulled and not given his helmet back on Saturday, even after he was in a groove and leading the final drive. You ALWAYS trust your medical staff...it's not about being tough. It's about taking care of kids for the rest of their lives.

This was nothing more than listing the protocols.

Was ND's holding Dan Wenger out of games due to head trauma and refusing to medically clear him to play another season too far back for Hamilton to grasp Notre Dame's concern?

Do the names Dave Duerson and Corwin Brown ring your bell, Brian?

OMG...I saw the clip...how did she get up...seriously. That is one woman that is scary right there.
