lol good one, GATOR. Recruits changing their minds is inevitable, and if there were anything wrong with it the NCAA would just let them sign their letters of intent whenever they wanted, sophomore year of high school, whenever. Sometimes you benefit from a change of heart and sometimes you lose out. It's silly to get worked up about it as against the kid. I was never mad at Greenberry or Decker or Lynch (I'll admit I was a little mad at Darby because he seemed a little prima donna-ish in the whole deal ("why isn't anyone calling me??")) and I certainly wasn't mad at Gunner ... I won't be mad at Anzalone either. My focus is more on what the staff's backup plan is ... and his name is Savaiinea.

so you dont want Gunner?

Please re-read my words. I said it would be great for ND to have AA's abilities... Gunner was also very indecisive. And again, I love for ND to have Gunner's abilities. But who can say Gunner won't do the same as Lynch?

I havent read your post before but are you a closet ND fan that was indecisive in choosing which college program to follow and currently have Florida as your current team but still posts on ND sites?

Who cares who gater supports. But "allgater" is a pretty good clue. I wish IE had a bunch of informed posters like him that support other teams (and wasn't actively trying to lose posters like it seems is the current trend). But I think I may be in a very small minority on that.

My opinion is that RKG definition isn't really inluenced by changing commitments. And if Gunner leaves, you can't equate it with Lynch. Seems rational someone would leave if they don't think they will get playing time. Lynch had plenty of playing time, went for glory over contributing to team when he played, and was disruptive.

As far as AA, I think he wanted to be a Gator before he started the process and then when he visited Florida no other members of the incoming class were present and probably was WTF and went with a quality group of guys at ND. Then he started bonding with Florida recruits and he probably wishes he didn't make the ND commitment. Now he feels obligated to give it a fair chance before changing his mind. But he's 18 and you never know whether he has a manti moment one day and says ND is the place for him. But IMO he's gone for now and only reason I read the thread is to find out if it's official.

It's OK to want to hang out with Notre Dame Fans. Lots of people are jumping on the wagon.

I know AA is a great talent but ND should be fine with or without. The LB class is sick and there are options if he chooses against ND. Either way i'm not overly concerned. It would be a huge problem if he was the only LB in the class but thats clearly not the case this year.

I'm not worried because BK is winning with the same guys that Weis couldn't win with. Granted many freshmen and sophomores are seeing time early but I think the difference is just BK's ability to develop players. Last year, without turnovers, the difference between BK and Weis would have been even more apparent. BK and staff are getting these kids to play to their full potential. That is the difference. A guy like AA would raise the ceiling because of his super high potential, but with the talent we have now and that of the guys coming in, we can win out with or without him. It's just a matter of these guys buying in and BK coaching them up.

I think this is the main reason why there isn't mass hysteria that AA may be wavering. We are starting to see BK's vision take form and realize that the cupboard isn't bare. Amazing what a few Ws does to the confidence.

Bottom line on all of this is AA is a 17 year old kid who is faced with a difficult decision. He seems like a great kid and I hope he makes the decision that is best for him. I would love for him to be Irish, but if not I hope he has an amazing career as a Gator. I don't post very much, but I know everyone says that winning will take care of everything in recruiting. And I also know that this amazing class was pretty much in tact before ND even played a game this season. All I'm saying is ND is definitely on an upward path and will continue to be in the fight for some top players every year. As of now he is Irish, and hopefully he still is after BYU visit. If not, best of luck brother, on to the next. Have a great weekend everyone.

The only issue is that Grace is the only thumper at the Mike position when Manti and Carlo graduate.

I believe that Deeb fits the definition of a Thumper, and what I saw in his spring game time, Rabasa can cover fairly well in space, so, since it's obvious that HE could be a thumper physically, he could be adjusted in there if we needed THREE Mikes. I'd be MUCH more concerned about who plays WILL than MIKE.

Deeb was told by the coaching staff during his recruitment that WILL and MIKE are essentially the same positions ... just different gaps. The only real difference is that the MIKE makes the defensive calls. I always thought that the WILL dropped back in coverage more and the MIKE was more important in run stuffing, but based on what Deeb was told it sounds like I was wrong. The physical requirements of the two positions are actually identical and the coaching staff doesn't differentiate between MIKE and WILL in evaluating potential ILBs.

I was coming to that conclusion, but what's held me off has been that the Staff seems to be handling Carlo that way but not really Danny Fox. It's almost like they have two different visions of WILL and Carlo is Thumper while Danny is more Space Ranger.

Still that doesn't help me with my question about WILL, unless, of course we keep at least Danny while "converting" someone else to be his back-up for the future starting role.

Yeah, unless the players are shading a side of the O -- say if the Mike and SDE always shades to the Y) -- or unless there's some other alignment adjustment, then M and W are basically the same position.

Lol, true, OMM, we know we have a budding star in Grace ... and a question mark beside him.

Is Moore going to seize that spot? I know he's a great athlete but not sure what the coaches think of him as an ILB. You don't hear much about either Kendall Moore or Rabasa. Rabasa is listed outside but I'm not sure he has the build for an OLB for us and it seems everyone expects him to move back inside ...

Anzalone, make this easy for us. Stay IRISH!

Dear Double A,
Did you just see that D? Did you see the Irish Nation rise up for All American LB Manti Teo a few weeks ago? Have you seen the $ stats that comes along with an ND degree? Did you see Jimmy Mac's sign? We are ND. You should be too.
