Palm's computer has some curious bowl projections.

Rose -USC v Nebraska

Sugar - UGA

Alamo - Oregon

Capital One - South Carolina

UGA and the Huskers took a beating this week.

Oregon losing to a talented but struggling USC?

Boise is not going to a BCS game. No way they get an at-large pick. And how do you leave out Oregon or South Carolina? SCeast just killed Georgia.

Today is 10/7. The link I posted earlier is Palm's current update based on yesterday's games.

His computer program apparently forecasts a bunch of upsets down the road.

ND From From Fiesta To Sugar Bowl

ND From From Fiesta To Sugar Bowl

Per Jerry Palms 10/21 computer runs. On 9/16 he was the first projecting ND to the Fiesta Bowl. Now he projects KSU will mess that up by going undefeated and advancing to the Championship Game against Alabama.

The Sugar picks UF to replace Bama who is going to the ChampionshipnGame. Fiesta picks next and takes OU to replace Big 12 Champ KSU also going to CG. Fiesta wants ND but ND and OU played in regular season. If they opt for ND instead of OU they face the wrath of the Big12 as it would cause that conference millions of dollars. Palm believes Fiesta takes Boise over ND to pacify their Big 12 partner. So ND ends up in Sugar in a rematch of the Cheerios Bowl.

Palm also forsees a shortage of qualified teams to fill all the bowls.

Lets get to the OU game undefeated before we start talking BCS

This... especially considering who we have up next... Denard Robinson making us look like a beginner in Tecmo Bowl once again will end this talk real damn quickly... get past Stanford without a loss then come talk about BCS games... AT LEAST

Can we start talking about BCS games now?

Per my confusion from BGIF's post, I had to click the link to find who we played in the 'Cheerios Bowl'. That would be UF. ND vs UF in the Sugar Bowl. Not bad.

9 ND Opponents to Bowl per Palm

9 ND Opponents to Bowl per Palm

As of 10/21 Palm projects all of ND's 2012 opponents will qualify for bowls except Pitt, BC, and WF, (3 upcoming games).

USC to the Rose to play The Huskers instead of Michigan. UM goes to Capital v LSU. The rest of Palm's bowl projections are here:

I'm surprised they don't have Oregon in a BCS bowl. I think they would be bigger draw than Boise

Haha Gators vs Irish in the Sugar Bowl would launch a massive civil war in my household. My wife is a die hard Gators fan (which has rubbed off of on me as well because I do cheer for the Gators) and I am of course a die hard Notre Dame fan. My wife already told me that if UF and ND met in the NCG and ND won that would be grounds for divorce haha.

Sorry about that. For those too young (or too old) to remember the Cheerios Bowl A.K. A. The '92 Sugar Bowl against The Gators of Floridan, here's a link:

1992 Game Recap / Allstate Sugar Bowl

It was called the Cheerios Bowl because in olden times there was no BCS so Bowls picked their participants simply to make money actually similar to the BCS fundamental goal $$$$$ but being more candid about it. The bowls extended bids (invites) early to lock up the better competition. ND stumbled late in the season with a couple of losses to slip to 9-3. Spurrier, Gator fans and their SEC lackeys howled that ND wasn't good enough to play the mighty SEC champ. "Notre Dame is irrelevant" trolled the their fans and the media. Notre Dame was beneath the SEC's level of play, they claimed.

In New Orleans during Game Week a waiter served Lou Holtz at lunch and asked him, "What's the difference between Notre Dame and Cheerios?" "Cheerios belong in a bowl!" never at a loss for words, Holtz quipped back to the waiter, "What's the difference between Lou Holtz and a golf pro?" The waiter shook his head. "Golf pros give tips!"

The first was all Gators ( like our smart *** poster who thinks he's an original) but the defense bent but didn't break. Down at halftime Holtz gave an impassioned halftime speech. "You WILL run the ball!"

And Bettis secured his place in history. UF packed the box to choke the run pulling everybody up tight. Three time Bettis broke through and there was no Gator quick enough to chase him down. UF got a late score to make the game seem close, 39-28 but the Gators and the SEC were embarrassed and hateful. Asked if Florida would schedule ND during the regular season sometime in the future to gain revenge, Spurrier replied smugly that the SEC schedule was full, no room.

Start looking for an attorney.

Golson has about 10 weeks for the lights to come on and that single covered receiver jumps into his head with the first step a blitzes takes. When that recognition takes place ND's offense will roll. It may not be there by the USC game but he has 15 bowl practices to help find the light.

UF would be a frightful opponent with the ND offense of the first 7 weeks.

One of my all-time favorite Irish wins. Great unis too.

If they are in the top14 and ahead of an AQ Conference Champ.

Right, and at 11-1! which Palm is projecting, Boise will auto qualify.

The games still have to be played. I would expect shenanigans in the Coach's Poll and Harris Poll but they won't be able to keep them out.

I'd be more concerned about a 10-2 ND getting dropped punitively in the polls in an attempt to box them out. Think about the Final Poll in '93 when some Southern coaches voted ND 7th or lower to guarantee Bowden an FSU the NC. ND's ACC connection may offset some of that today.

Of course you do Rudy. It would be out of character for you to think otherwise.

I personally would want nothing more than an SEC team right now.

We have nothing to lose against them.

No one outside of our fanbase, and a lot of our fanbase, actually thinks we will beat Florida.

I would love to gig an SEC team.

Mostly Alabama.

Then Florida.

Then LSU.

keeping the world in balance , my man :) I thought we people were saying earlier we would go to the fiesta bowl, how did that change? Ill be the first to admit the way the bowls are set up can make my head hurt so why do we suddenly go from playing the big 12 champs if they dont play for the NC to the SEC runner up?

An 11-1 Boise gets an automatic bid under BCS rules.

Thanks, I think this would be a terrible blow out though. Boise seems to be a much weaker team this year after losing so much talent last year. I guess Oregon/USC can hope Boise falls apart near the end of the season

10-2 ND would be in the top 14 and would be selected by someone. Just like Michigan last year.

Actually top12 to AQ and top16 and greater than any conference champion. If Michigan wins out, look for that to change.

The funny thing is that up here in Boise they have talked about this on local sports talk. They get constant calls from Boise State fans thinking this would be a joke because their schedule is so weak.
