The other 24 teams left after there was no confirmation of Rees starting.

In South Bend the opponents get 5000 tickets.

Three weeks ago, Notre Dame students received an email telling them only 288 tickets would be made available to the student body for this year’s contest. That’s 288 tickets for an undergraduate population of more than 8,000 students. For a home game. In Chicago.

Soldier Field is 94 miles from the Notre Dame campus. Alumni, as usual, will travel in droves to see the gold (and, this week, blue) helmets shimmering under the lights in what is sure to be a Notre Dame celebration that spans the entire weekend. But only 3.6 percent of the students were invited to the party.

No human being can be held accountable for giving a viewpoint one day which then must change due to circumstances/further developments on some later day, and thereby going with the change. If fact, any human being who does not continue to assess changing situations would be a rigid fool. This is still at rumor level, so the whole thing is currently ill-smelling fog, but even if Tommy starts that has nothing necessarily to do with Coach's truthfulness.

Also, coaches are fools if they talk glibly about their players' injuries or general states of health in ways which could help opponents simplify expectations. To demand that would be at the same level of naivete as going to military intelligence and demanding to know their plans, because By Gum I have the Right to Know!!! Some of the commentary on the board staggers the mind.

Side note, the difference of opinion on this board makes it what it is. If you want group think maybe nd nation is best.

Which goes back to why pick Chicago at all? Soldier Field was legendary in Rockne's time when ND played there before 100K - 120K. 20,000 fewer ND fans get to attend the game there than at South Bend including the 8,000 strong student body.

The only one that benefits from this venue is Miami with a midwest recruiting trip without having to contend with ND's student body.
