Gonna miss Chipper but this should free up some money to go get a bat or 2 into the lineup. Hoping that the Braves make a nice run in his final post season.

moving this quote over to the MLB thread to not clog up the HeisManti campaign.

It's always bothered me how Heisman has always been a default offensive player award. So if Manti gets an invite or, better yet, wins it'll be twice as sweet because aside from being an incredible player (which he is) he'll also have to get past that "defensive players don't count" roadblock as well. It's good to see that the press is helping to clear the way for Manti to get the attention he deserves and have a real shot at the Heisman, which, IMO, he is truly deserving of a shot.

I want ND to win every game. And I want Manti to win the Heisman as a result. But the first scenario will have to happen for the second to occur. And to Black Irish's point, it's because he's a defensive guy.

Put him in on the goal line at HB with Tuitt or Niklas at Fullback.
A couple offensive TDs would go a long way towards the Heisman. We've dicussed his running ability at length in the past, I don't see this happening though.

It'd be sweet! Maybe on NCAA13

If he got injured as a goal line back I'm sure the ND community would be so happy...

Valid point. I'd be angry.

If he keeps his production where it's at he'll be in the conversation. He's got the human interest story to go along with it.

Inspirational.

Hey, TheFlyingAlamo, please tell me your sig doesn't represent the player you chose in that NES wrestling game. That flying kick was the hardest special move to pull. You had to line up just right with the other wrestler just standing there waiting to get kicked. I guess it was like WWF when guys just walk into clotheslines. Ah, memories of wasted youth.

That USA Today article is awesome. It seems like the cool stuff just never stops coming. And strangely enough, this actually makes me want to beat the crap out of miami.

Up to 4% now, pretty nice jump since he's started. Still distant from the top but still, 4% for a LB from ND is a nice compliment.

You know, I'd be happier than hell if he did win it, but in all reality, who cares. He's been our Heisman, and everyone even close to the ND family knows it. His impact on this program has been truly monumental, and that, coupled with his impact on the team, the fanbase, and the university, is really all that matters.

I hope he wins, but if not, that takes nothing away from what he's accomplished.

The Green one is great. The navy one is a little too reminescent of Wolverine colors...

Voting on a daily basis, which doesn't seem as if I'm alone, he is up to 8% of the vote as of a minute ago, currently 3rd behind Geno (1st) and De'Anthony(2nd). He's ahead of Barkley, Braxton, and even Lattimore.

Purely speculative but I replayed the game last night and thought if Fox didn't tip that ball that was caught by Miami on the tip drill that Manti could of had his 4th pick. Not that the if game matters but what does is that Manti is in the right place at the right time a lot this year and it shows! I would like to see him get a few sacks in though and that more for my excitement because he gets so hyped! Tremendous year so far Manti!

seconded. Whether he "has a chance" or not is hardly the point of this thread. So enough of those dumb comments.

In reality, he is definitely in the conversation about best player in college football. But thats not really what the Heisman is anymore, is it?

The Heisman is the MVP of the best team in College Football or the Offensive Player who does something no one else in CFB did.

Teo will win a ton of hardware but unless CBK puts him in as a fullback he has no shot

Before last night's game against Michigan the TV announcers were building up Denard Robinson, calling him the best player on the field. By half-time their tune had changed and Manti Teo was the best player on the field.

Denard is an excellent player, but Manti proved that he was by far the best player on the field in last night's game. His pass coverage was excellent and he was Denard's worst nightmare.

Manti may not win the Heisman, but he will have a far better NFL career than whoever does win it. Let's promote Manti for the award few could question, the "Butkus Award".

iMO Geno Smith has the Heisman locked up
