You know I think he would already be committed had we been able to take Standifer.

Writing UM off right now is pretty foolish. They stand as good a chance as anyone in the B10 at winning the championship. They have MSt at home, and go on the road for PU, Neb, and OSU. If they make it out of their side, they'll play either PU or Wisc. I just don't feel like any team in the B10 is even close to a lock.

I didn't mean to sound like i was writing them off but i do believe they have the same shot to not win big ten as they do win it.

I also agree their best chance is with Denard but if the situation of not making big ten championship does arise what do they do?

Yep.... No one team in the B10 stands out to me. IMO, they all beat each other up and you likely have a 2, 3, or even 4 loss team going to the Rose Bowl. Pathetic.....

I think they ride Denard to the end. Hoke's seat seems to be getting a bit hot. I think their best chance is with him playing his game. And I don't think any team will separate themselves early in B10 play. I'd bet the divisions will have to use tie breakers to determine who goes to the championship.

My prediction....
Ohio St wins Leaders, but Purdue goes to the championship.

Three or four way tie in the Legends, who knows who goes.

Legends champ goes to the Rose...

Oh come on. Hoke is four games removed from a BCS bowl win in his first season, with a Top 5 recruiting class in the bag. The guy's not going anywhere.
And they'd be silly to mess with their offense just to impress the last couple of recruits. Like you said, the Big Ten's wide open, and they've got the most dynamic player in the conference (they also don't have particularly great receivers). So Denard had a lousy game the other night. It's not the first time. He'll get over it. And if they can bottle up MSU and Wisconsin's running games like they did ours, they've still got a good shot at the Rose Bowl.

Call me crazy but why is ND still recruiting Treadwell???? We are looking to potentially take 5 WR this class??

I think we have a massive WR haul already so why not strongly focus recruiting on DB or DE etc. and strengthen relationships with current commits.

I think they are doing exactly that. I think every pay site's staff has been pretty clear that ND is targeting at least 1 CB and DE/LB for our last spots. However, there also seems to be a consensus that when we fill those two spots, we are looking to take the best available. Laquon definitely qualifies as a "best available", top 50 type talent, regardless of the haul at the position. The staff is already spread around the country this week checking in on all our commits as well as remaining '13 targets, and as the staff learned last year, it is prudent to keep recruiting everyone (even if there is no space) until NSD, as anything can happen.

I think cause he's a 5 star that's in their backyard. See Gunner Kiel.

Sh!t or get off the pot I say.

ND didn't have a QB in the class and BK would like to take a QB every single year - that explains Kiel.

ND currently has 4 WR in this class. 4 stud WRs. Not necessarily elite WR but studs. Why not focus their attention on elite DBs, what ND desperately needs, instead of chasing LT? I'd rather ND take one more extra DB in this class than one more extra WR.

he is explosive and we only have THJ coming in that has that skill set...James is potentially from what i read somewhere might not be @wr but he is more of a possession wr...fuller was recruited by ND as a wr but could easily flip to defense..robinson is still learning the ropes...keep loading and reloading

In the voice of Enrique to Laquon, "We can be your Houston, baby!".

I'll take him as a surprise on NSD. He's a star.

Yes real nice. BK's got the guys all over the place recruiting and following up with commits, also looking at potential '14 kids. After the last two years, we should all realize that until the signature is on the paper anything goes.

Because he is a lot better than the WR's that ND has committed.

Lol. Ironman, great answer, reps. ALLGATOR, well, a little rude but points for being succinct.

The responses amount to the same thing though: Treadwell is the type of top talent that you just take if you can get him. He will be able to contribute immediately, and we will need another pass-catching playmaker next year. Our other receivers may or may not be ready to contribute ... I tend to think that Robinson, Fuller and Onwualu may need some time to develop.

He is right, hence captain obvious.

And to go further, according to ESPN there are only three other wide receivers above Treadwell, all uncommitted, so he would technically be the best wide receiver in ANYONE'S recruiting class if he were to commit.

No but I would calabrese's

You wouldn't give up one year of Cierre Wood (who's not even having the bulk of our carries right now) for four years of Laquon Tredwell?? He's a Michael Floyd-type talent dude.

BTW, totally agree on Calabrese.

IMO Floyd had better hands coming out of HS, but both are physically dominate which is 4/5 of the whole ball game at wr.

The only way we don't take him, is if we secure the CB/S (LJ) and LB/DE (Alquadin) early, then catch a combination of Issac S, Priest W, Mackenzie A, Folston, Luke, Allen, or flips from Elliot or someone else of 5star stature. If LT wants to come and there is a spot left, we take.

I personally think we get LJ and Alquadin, then pick up either Priest or Mackenzie, and potentially Issac and Folston. Lots of big names still hot on the Irish.

Would you guys sacrifice Cierre's 5th year for LT? I would.

Wow, this is a good question ... I'm leaning toward saying yes, since I came into this year assuming Cierre would be gone anyway ... but he hasn't gotten the carries to really prove anything to pro teams yet, and unless that changes (I think it will) he may want to come back. I don't know whether any of our other RBs is ready to carry the load next year. Amir certainly has the talent but hasn't been able to stay healthy, GAIII is a fast guy who hasn't proven that he is an every-down RB , and Mahone we don't know.

I guess let's just hope it doesn't come to that. One elite CB, one pass rusher, and LT, and we're done. That leaves room for 4 fifth-years.

Wood should see more carries. He is our best RB by far. Hopefully if the "dog house" rumors are true, he's done what he needs to in order to get back in good graces. We need him, no doubt. If he wants to come back, I'd take him. I'd give up just about any other 5th year to take LT though.

True about Amir, but this is his first injury, no? Don't forget, he was taking meaningful snaps for USC last year as a true frosh! That guy's going to be good. And we're a 'runningback by committee' team, so GAIII doesn't have to take 20+ carries a game. We'll be fine without Cierre next year. Don't get me wrong, he'd be our #1, but IMO, it's not even a question. I'd give up one year of Cierre for four of Laquon Tredwell, and I'd bet the house the coaches agree.

Cierre is the only 5th year I wouldn't give up for LT. Don't really see him coming here though.
