One of the most incredible hits I"ve seen recently. He elevated Lee off the ground.. I was so proud of the Domer

NO flag was thrown on the play but now, afterwards, the league fines him $21k! I don't see how its a penalty..it wasn't helmet to helmet, it wasn't dirty, he was defending his scrambling quarter back.

PS: Sorry if theres already a thread about this..I couldn't find one.

agreed, too many people want that extreme violence in football when it is not necessary. It wasnt a foul, but I totally understand the fine. People's health and life are more important than a big hit and people going "wow!"

I think the hit was legal. And I think it is goofy to keep posting in the recruiting thread after the recruit is at ND let alone three years in the NFL. It might keep the site organized, but not in a logical fashion. And no i don't want to argue about it, I have just always felt that way.

It looked like Tate put his hands on Lee's chest 1st and did not lead with his helmet but it was hard to tell for sure from that video.

Lee needs to keep his head on a swivel. He was gaurding Tate, what did he think Tate was going to do? I guess cowboy recievers don't block for ball carriers.

I believe it was Daryl Singletary from Purdue when he played for the Pats.

I think i would agree, no flag after all. That said, the hit was more over the top that really necessary in that situation (i.e. a simple shove would have sufficed). Golden could probably make the argument that he's relatively small and doesn't get into that sort of blocking situation very often, so went with more force rather than less to make sure he got done what needed to be done.

It might keep the site organized, but not in a logical fashion.

Agree. when i open the front page and just see a bunch of recruits/former players names, i have no idea what current conversations might interest me. And it can be hard to catch up on the conversation in a situation like Golden's page cause tehre are 600million posts already. Not that i have a feasible solution. I guess the alternative is having a bunch of duplicate threads?

Jack Tatum threw an elbow on that hit. Daryl Stingley stated "He threw and elbow. He didn't have to, but he did." I get it, though. No reason to hit this guy blind that hard. The problem is, as mentioned here, violence of the sport is becoming the most heralded part.

Shouldn't the title of this be "Golden Tate's Fine Hit"?

That's right Daryl Stingley not Singletary.....thanks

Hey, a simple shove might've done it....but this is football. You hit that guy as hard as you can, so next time, he's looking for you and not paying attention to what he's supposed to be doing.

I love these hits. Keeps the only shread left of the good old days alive.

Defensive players get to knock around offensive guys all the time, doesn't hurt to let the guys on O get one in once in a while.

If the player is able to stand up or even play football ever again after the hit, sure you are right.

Too many people calling for the "good ol days" and extreme hits... People forget that football players actually tackled the right way back in the day instead of throwing their body like a missile like they do now.
