Who was that guy?

So weird.

I read all of his posts.

I think a computer somewhere has gone "responsive."

That can't be a bot...

I have banned 30 "names" in the past 24 hours. I have no idea who/what they are. If they have signatures with websites, I consider them ban-worthy

Still getting letters/offers from other schools. His coach gives them to him and they are thrown in the trash immediately. Doesn't have his official set yet, but will be at the Purdue game, and "probably every home game" this fall.

Burn 'em baby!!!

Guys like Jaylon Smith are the reason ND doesn't need Pinkett's "criminals" nor do they have to reinstate two time felons like USC. Guys like Jaylon command the respect of their peers because they are men of their word, who put in the time and work necessary to see the job through.

Guys like Jaylon Smith, elite athletes that care about academics, are the reason ND will win championships again.

While I completely Agree with you, there aren't many guys like Jaylon (or Manti) around in general. Usually guys of their caliber aren't as concerned about how they study or carry themselves.

Yeah, but the point is that guys want to play with guys like Jaylon. Davonte Neal is an elite athlete who cares about academics. So is Okwara. Kelly is recruiting guys who can become good-great-amazing college football players who care about academics and are willing to put the work in.

You don't have to have 85 Jaylon Smith's. You need one Jaylon Smith. One Davonte Neal. One Chris Brown. One Jarron Jones. One Sheldon Day. Etc., etc., etc. All those ones can make up a team, who is talented enough, puts in the work, and wins. Not because they are the best football player one by one, but because they are a team of individuals who lean on one another and do things the right way.

I hope this isn't a false sense of security on my part, but I don't get too nervous when I see most 2013 recruit threads get bumped. Especially Jaylon. Just have a lot of trust in the kid.

This kid will be a great leader and ambassador for the University of Notre Dame! He will be an incredible player and will help us reach the next level!

He already has been! These guys have already reached out to former prospects and formed relationships that have caused many of them to hop on board. I love how these commits are already impacting their future team in the most important ways, by forging the relationships that will create memories, accomplishments, and bonds that will last a lifetime.

I was talking to two gentlemen at the game, one from In and one local. Both teams are down this year. There seemed to be open rebelion in the stands at the use of Jaylon.

Don't read if you don't want to hear the truth.

Remember, Whitmer was a Class I semifinalist last year and put 6 guys college Division I this year. They looked terrrrrible. So then you have Leurs.

People have talked back and forth about what is what with them. I cannot remember the last time I saw a team so sloppy at the fundementals. Other than punting and kicking. I don't think I saw a punt handled correctly all night. I saw an interception run across the enzone and brought out to the two yard line. I saw a nonexistant offensive line.

Jaylon was brought in on offense when Leurs were in a hole on down and distance. And he still was their whole offense. Every man knew the ball was going him.

On defense he played wide side, so Whitmer went short side. The kept him home with coverage and play action and ran or threw away. ALL NIGHT. If it wasn't Leurs coaching, why didn't they move him around to engage him in the game?

Strangely, this increased my respect for him. On a couple plays were he got to bring it I saw closing speed faster than I may ever have seen. He needs more weight and upper body strength, but he is like lightening. When this guy gets a year with Longo, watch the fuk out!!!!

Sounded like a rebellion on how to use him, not on how good he is, if that is what you were getting at.

Would you elaborate on this?

Sounded like a rebellion on how to use him, not on how good he is, if that is what you were getting at.

Exactly! You hit the nail on the head Peoria!

I think most Leurs fans think this is a one horse race and the coaches for the life of them are playing with ponies, (three legged ones at that).

This kids is at a skill level that is rarely seen. He had the longest catch from scrimmage last night. I aluded to it before; the only time that Jaylon touches the ball on offense is when they are so deep in the hole down and distance. So who do you think Whitmer keyed on. When Jaylon got in, ten blue jerseys sold out their assignment and found him. That is not an exageration. And it was because his coachs run a sloppy one dimensional offense to begin with.

I am afraid they will hurt him. I watched the joy he played with this summer, and it is almost like he isn't the same kids.

On defense I would move him around. If you want your offense to go away from him, go ahead and figure out where he is going to be! The only action Jaylon saw on defense was when he made a play across the field, and Whitmer's offensive line was everything Luers wasn't. It was big and fast. So when Jaylon made it across, that was a real effort, in and of itself.

A couple times with play action, Jaylon was able to rush the passer. You should have seen the Whitmer qb! I was close. It would have been panic if he had time.

Leurs reminded me of the old Archbishop Moeller High School that Gerry Faust used to coach; used to winning on talent. I felt that of the rest of the team, the skill players were used to being faster than their competition. Last night they were not. But Jaylon appeard to be the fastest and certainly the most explosive on the field.

A number of people made comments from the stands questioning the coaching in areas that I have pointed out. Some people I talked to were long time Leurs supporters and pretty openly unhappy, maybe even hostile.

It is important to note that the whole game wasn't pretty. The officiating was so poor that they didn't even have any official following plays to find holding, and on one long kick return a flagrant, obvious block in the back was missed.
