And it does raise questions about Kelly's faith in EG whether people choose to admit that or not.
Faith is irrelevant, experience is what that decision was all about.

It's not. If Kelly was confident in EG, he would've finished that game. It has everything to do with how Kelly felt about EG.
I agree with most everything said.
The ineptitude of Mike Golic Jr. versus NFL caliber players is damn terrifying though. And I doubt it's "correctable." He dominates little guys and gets abused by guys who will play on Sunday. Don't understand how there is such a discrepancy. But it has potential to cost us multiple games.

Why no mention of the hurt hand? I saw a post earlier saying it was bandaged in class today (don't know if it was true or not).
Two minute drill makes sense, add in Golson's inability to grip that well and it's an easier decision to throw Tommy in there and assess Golson's hand for an OT decission if necessary.
Kind of silly to say Golson couldn't go 80 yards when he had 289 yards on the day already.
I forgot which announcer it was, but they compared EG to a young Charlie Ward. IMO, I see him as a Marcus Vick.
Tyrod Taylor?
It is pretty disappointing to know that Golic was not great this weekend, and then consider how he did against Stanford last year. He is not an all time great guard, and shouldn't be expected to be. I am confident he is starting because he is the best we have. We have a pretty strong stable of offensive lineman, but almost every team has a weakness on the offensive line. The question is though, if teams have the the personnel to exploit that weakness.
Obviously, Navy did not have the capability to win that matchup, but Purdue did. Additionally, because Purdue was stacking the box it made it even more difficult to execute the blocking schemes. Not every team will stack the box. I believe Michigan States feels they have the personnel to matchup with us conservatively, and therefore will not show very many eight man fronts. This, by itself, should mean we will be at least a little bit more successful running the ball.

I agree to a point Irishpat, but when you stack the box, you leave only 3-4 people in coverage, which leaves a lot of room to get open for the WRs. If we have Daniels and Eifert, you will see them beat their coverage. There were quite a number of plays where those two were WIDE OPEN down field.

They seemed to be playing a defense that is derived to get eight in the box. This is because the free safety has dual responsibilities in this scheme. Obviously I wasn't the one coaching for Purdue, but the scheme resembled a 4-3 Under Cover 1 Flex front to me. With this defense there isn't exactly a "stacked" box, but more of the potential to have eight in direct run support.Don't mean to hammer on this, but as Patulski said, Purdue wasn't filling the box, stacking the box, whatever term you like to use. Purdue just had a very good D-line, much better than most expected. I know two of their sacks came without a blitz.
Golic has to be the best option available, otherwise he wouldn't be starting.
