It isn't just about the stats (although he did call out NDinLA for his assertion, basically calling BS, when if he had followed Golson's recruiting at all he would have known it wasn't an outlandish claim). He debated with 4 or 5 different posters, and I'd score each of those debates for his opponents. That is a tough go.

He's Montana and I respect what he did as a player.
But I need everyones help with something.
I lost something and if you could help me find it that would be awesome.
What I lost was all the f's I give about what Montana has to say.

Haha, solid comment. I havent liked Joe since he big timed me at the Meadowlands 2 years ago. He rushed right by me and my brother and we were literally the only 2 around. No one would have even been there to rush over to him had he stopped.

It's just that everytime I see him in the news, it's slamming ND. The "Rudy" thing, and now this?

Hell, neither am I until they show me something! I've never seen Golson play division one football in college. Kelly hasn't shown me anything in his tenure at Notre Dame that proves he is anything but a mid-level coach treading water in a high-level pool. Sorry, but it's really the way it is at this point. Perhaps Joe is more of a Notre Dame fan than anyone here is giving him credit for. Think about it in the sense of Joe looking toward South Bend and saying "Man, what happened to that place?!" They have a guy from the Big East coaching when they should have a top five coach in the entire country (we can't get one, but that's not the point...we should still HAVE one on tradition and history alone) and an unproven high school talent getting set to start at QB. That means didley **** until he starts and makes something happen. For me, if this season is another 6-6 season and scraping into a low tier bowl game then Kelly is done for me. He's Bob Davie version 2.0 for all I care.

First of all, Montana doesn't know anything about the current qtrbks. at ND and shouldn't be commenting on their abilities or lack thereof. I also share the opinion that his dislike of Kelly results from his son not making it at ND or anywhere else that I know of. And finally, it's time to shut up Joe before you destroy what legacy you have left at ND. Enjoy retirement and cheering for your alma matre which put you in the place you are today.

I'm giving Montana a pass here because his son wasnt good enough or just didnt do well which may give Joe some bias. But I am starting to wonder about Kelly-great coach but maybe Notre Dame was bigger than he could handle because of the posture of the administration and the 15 yr deteriation of the program. This isnt Cinncinnati-the cooker is much tougher. This is a 7-5/6-6 team this year and next year (to me) doesnt look any brighter. Montana may be right.

When Joe said Everett was the "least talented thrower" I just dismissed him as another un-informed talking head on ESPN.

Surprises me he would let his son's outcome affect his thinking so much if true.
