A must watch in the mens 800m tonight. I just watched it live. Amazing race. And although NBC's commentating will make it sound boring, it is easily the best race of the olympics so far.

(The men's 200 wil also be tonight. Bolt and Blake go at it again, and all signs point to Blake, but Bolt always shows up in the final of big events; this should be no different. It will be special. Also look for Wallace Spearman (USA) and Christopher Lemaitre (FRA), fastest white man ever, to fight for the last medal (presumably).

Anyone watching the women's soccer game? Quite exciting. Did not like the substitution to take out Rapinoe. Also cannot believe we gave up a goal by trying to clear up the middle.... sports 101.

USA lucky to be up 2-1 right now... won 138 straight matches after leading 2-0.... let's hope we can hold on.

That was awesome!!... Highlight of the Olympics to me... I'm stoked, although, in honesty Japan outplayed us...

For the majority of the first half, they realllllllly outplayed us. And we caught a huge break with that no-call on the handball.

Lloyd channeled her inner Denard Robinson today. Two phenomenal individual plays = victory. That second goal was a thing of beauty.

Look at it this way Japan, this is still only the second worse thing the US has done to you.

This is so awesome.

I've realized what I love so much about the Olympics is that it takes the best parts of the opening of March Madness (i.e. round the clock games + crazy dramatic finishes) and combines it with national pride and sh*t you've never seen before. I've seen a couple dozen buzzer beater threes to force overtime... I've never seen an underwater breast stroke sneak-attack steal + goal as time expires.

I watched it also. The whole second half and overtime at least. It was crazy.

I played water polo in high school (best sport there is, played on a good team too) and my brother used to do this all the time, probably works 1/10 times. HOWEVER, that was high school, and to think that would work in college, let alone the OLYMPICS, is just amazing. The goalie had to have seen that move coming... WOW

also, the US Men were supposed to be a serious medal contender and absolutely **** the bed, terrible showing from a great group of individual athletes

I'm not sure about this extravaganza that is the closing ceremony. So far, I have seen (tolerated) the retro sounds of Crowded House and the Pet Shop Boys. There are still 2 hours left and I'm to see the athletes, say farewell, set off fireworks, and wrap it up already.

Just when I thought the opening ceremonies were bad, I watched the closing ceremonies.

The closing ceremony is going to start here shortly, I'll be clicking back and forth between channels and won't watch it all.

FWIW here are some of my random thoughts on the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Modern communication is ruining the Olympics for me. I can't come home and enjoy watching a recording or rebroadcast without already knowing the results........everywhere you look someone is spoiling the results.

I wish there was a Switzerland or United Nations of TV networks, to show the Olympics without prejudice. I want to hear more stories about athletes from around the world. I want the Olympics to feel like sports uniting the world, not dividing it.

The continuous medal count is stupid. The USA, China and Russia spend so much friggin' money and send so many athletes....they better win a sh!t load of medals. A brief mention every once in awhile would be fine, but give me a break, some countries only send 1 or 2 athletes with a box lunch and converse sneakers.

I don't think NBA players should be allowed in the Olympics.

Baseball should be part of the summer Olympics but no MLB players.

Golf should be part of the summer Olympics.

I now have a little fondness for the Queen because of her skydiving stunt. (I know she didn't really do it)
