Will there be a press conference today? I feel like they had an end of week presser last year, but I could be making that up.

Yeah, I see what you mean...252 passing yards/game, 29.23 pts/game, isn't very good. Not being sarcastic either, 252 passing yards/game was in the top 35, but points per game was only top 50.

1. its not about stats, its about wins and rees wont give us wins
2. rees had floyd to go get jump balls all the time. we dont have a player like that this year

Perhaps this is when Rees gets his snaps?

I'm hoping that Kelly did this for one of these reasons:

1) He is about to do a serious ***-kicking practice and get all purple-faced (i'm pro purple-face) in order to get these guys that additional focus to detail that great teams have. I believe all great coaches have a good cop v bad cop relationship that is necessary to lead young men. Kelly would prefer to do this in private, as would the willing and waiting players on this team. Time to separate the strong willed from the kids.

2) He really has been liking what he is seeing and wants to give Golson 100% of the snaps and start introducing some high-flying sick new moves into the gameplan. But he doesn't want the media to get all stirred up about Golson, nor is he ready to let the media see his implementation of new era of ND offensive fire-power.

Either will suffice...

Some guy on II said he heard they were installing some QB/WR position for John Goodman and didn't want to show the public. TIFWIW.

With all of the electric players on our team, I would be pissed if we spent a day of fall camp installing a package for Goodman.

I don't really believe him. He said one of his "sources" told him about it.

Hollywood you think you could see what the hell is going on tommorow?

I could, but those days are over. I did it 3 times this week, and that was enough to make me feel really, REALLY creepy and loser-ish. It'd be different if I had kids who wanted autographs, but I just have a 10 month old daughter. Besides, my wife is working full-time again so weekends are family time for me (until, that is, Saturdays in the fall).

If TR is going to bail us out we are in trouble. I don't think his arm is strong enough to get the ball to Arizona.

Please do it!! You would get mad reps from me and the rest of IE! Just walk around outside of the practice field and try to hear what is going on

Over at ISD’s board they’re talking about Danny Spond hospitalized for potentially having a stroke. Numbness in one of his legs? Any truth to any of this

Check Danny's thread. Something happened unusual but nothing concrete has came out.

Nothing to say about the horror shows or wild imaginings but I think that something we could see this year to improve punt returning is somewhat simple: create a scheme which is an actual threat to block the punt. To my knowledge there is nothing which messes up the entirety of what the punting team is doing than if they think you can actually block it. There was no reason for anyone to fear us so everyone could release like mad dogs to the receiver. And the punter could cruise his way into a relaxed high punt. No rushed punts means maximum high beautiful floaters. And a great hoard of bad guys gathering for a John Goodman welcoming party. We MUST rush the punter to get the bad kicks which are returnable.

Sheldon Day appears to be a really hard worker. Every drill and rep I've seen from this summer he's going 100%. He's going to be special.

Is it me, or is this the first time in a long time that we see the Defense look effen outstanding in fall practice? Usually, I think to myself that the Offense is looking really good and the D needs work. Just a question.

I'm not so sure about ND, but for football in general it is usually the opposite. The D usually out does the offense in the early going. It just takes time for all the timing to sync up for an offense to really click.

yep cuz we tore it up last year w/ him running the offense

I'm not saying Rees is the answer...or even for that matter that Golson or Hendrix is either. I just remember last year when everyone was FOR Rees. Is that just cause we had no other option or because we are fickle fans?

Fickle fans... everyone falls in love with the backup until he actually goes in the game. We're gonna throw A LOT of picks this year. Hopefully just not Reese level.

and im still laughing over here about the secret practice goodman package!

Or, we just wanted someone other than Dayne. And, at that point in time, Tommy was the only other QB with game experience.
