Relax, take a chilulation.

Russell ran a 3.8 shuttle at the ESPN combine.

Kanye, I nominate you to update player profiles. Anyone second?

How am I underplaying them? Davonte Neal is my favorite player in this class. All of the prospects have the potential to be good. I think you are underplaying Russell.

Because you jumped into a conversation and didn't realize the beginning of it... Did you read the whole thing? I was presented with a statement of "Russell will be the best in the 12' class" so i rebuttaled.

Don't act like a child....

I personally think it's Davonte Neal that has the highest upside. But Russell could be. You pretty much said that Russell doesn't have a shot, when in reality with his size and quickness he can be very very very good and has that chance.

Please quote me where i said he doesn't have a shot? I said he doesn't have the up-side that some other players do....

I said "i'm not knocking him" he's a hell of an athlete but if i were a college coach i'd take at least 5 other players from the 12' class before him.... Which means i don't think he's the best of the 12' class.

IMO Russell moves back to RB after this year if we get 3 CB in the 2013 class.

Let's agree to disagree. This will never end if we dont.

Great, but the kicker remains it was never a "YOU & I" debate... you just threw your 2 cents in without understand the whole debate... For future reference before you throw a punch make sure you know what you're swinging for.

That is why I believe they call it "upside," and that is also why they call it" so much."

Just wondering what makes you say that? He never landed any big time offers besides ours and that Dieter guy ate his dinner in one on one.

Yes he sure as hell did. But to Turner's defense, Dieter will probably start for SMU this year as a freshman

Dieter also lacked offers from the schools he wanted, no? I'm sure I'll be viewed as a hater for this, but I thought Turner was a stretch and could be one of those guys who are a career special teams player. Turner, if you're looking for extra motivation, some nobody-fan on a message board doesn't think you belong at ND. Go!

Every good football teams has "career special team players"... It's just apart of the game.

I honestly don't know why Diester didn't get any "big time" offers. But I don't want talk about a kid who plays for SMU on a Notre Dame player's page. So just DM me if you want

Why? You think Russell would have seen the field at Z WR this year before Toma, Neal, and Carlisle?

No, but I do think that if he redshirted and was coached at RB/Z then he could be ready to produce at that position next year (which because of the departure of Toma/Riddick/Cierre will be a position of need). He's a skilled offensive player. I think he's definitely more comfortable at that position, as well. Even if he switches back next year, he just lost a valuable year of coaching and practice. He has much less experience at corner and it'll take that much longer for him to see the field. I think he will be a very good player and I just want him to see the field the earliest and at the position where he will be most productive.

We have a surplus of RBs and a shortage of CBs. Makes sense to me.

He'll likely redshirt either way. At RB we have Carlisle, Mahone, Jamel James, and GAIII all with a lot of eligibility left.

Agree with Kuehnja. Possibility of him getting lost in the depth chart at RB/slot. A kid with his athleticism and versatility is much needed at CB.

To the extent it might make you feel better, I see McDaniel switching back to RB/ Z WR soon. Maybe not this season, as we're so thin at CB, but probably next. Russell to CB and McDaniel back to RB/ Z WR would help equalize the numbers and talent across both positions.

Jamel James isn't even close to being a signed LOI yet, let alone even being on campus

Yeah. We need corners. This guy seems athletic enough he could play either way but at Z is looking up at two even better athletes with lots of eligibility at the same position (Neal, Carlisle). He's a likely redshirt regardless, so if they land better corners in the current recruiting class you can switch him back later. Barring that, he'll probably see the field earlier as a corner.
So why not give him a run there?
