Synchronized swimming has become a lot more interesting, too.

Bia and Branca Feres, representatives from Brazil...

Oh Wow! I've just become a sychronized swimming fan.

Really enjoy all of it except for Gymnastics/mens diving. The presentations of different channels showing full events is great. You can watch it all which is great when track and field gets going. Not much for little boys and girls touching their toes and prancing on a beam or guys in thongs diving. Costas is great Patrick is acceptable. Cant wait for Doubtfire's assignment-more than likely equestrian or is he doing gymnastics.

What do you believe is more important in terms of Olympic medals... having the most medals or having the most gold medals? We always seem to finish with the most medals bit I feel like we just can't compete with China in the gold medal count and it bugs me. Having a lot of medals is great but proving your dominance by winning the most events means more to me. Silver and bronze medals just prove we're great at losing. Ricky Bobby said it best... if you ain't first, you're last.

China takes toddlers with potential and forces them into sports schools. They go to school and practice their sport all day long inside these facilities. That is all they know how to do, because that is all they know. At least Americas athletes enjoy some semblance of freedom and socialization.

China's Olympic teams, have for many years been accused of cheating. Much like in 2008 when china used at least one underage girl to compete I wouldn't be surprised in 2012 that they cheated with some sort of performance enhancing drugs for their athletes. When there is smoke there is fire.

I know I promised some comments on some events; here is an event by event rundown by track and field news

T&FN London Olympics Previews

Also there is a huge to do about rule 40- it prevents athlete from getting sponsors (the way most track athletes survive financially)

U.S. Twitter rebels want to help struggling athletes - Yahoo! Eurosport UK

Finally if you don't know the NCAA are idiots they aren't allowing coaches to travel with their athletes unless they are government appointed coaches- none of them are. So basically the athletes dont have access to their coaches during the biggest meet of there lives... makes sense.

Also LetsRun.com: The Home of Running and Track and Field will have awesome updates throughout the games on the running events (with a focus on the distance events). They also have funny message boards- though they are unmonitored so don't believe anything you see. (Well they are funny to me anyway).

I'm interested in the Taekwondo section of the Olympics.
Its a cool back story of the Mexican siblings, the Lopez family.
Besides, I'm a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo so its very interesting to me. :)

That's kinda like me. I'm looking forward to track and field because I practice running for self-defense. :)

Tonight was the most enjoyable of the Olympics so far. I was really happy our girls got the gymnastic gold. They're awesome. The relay was a thrashing too.

Strange that we only really see the US team in gymnastics. Have any of you seen much coverage of the other countries?

Its kinda like watching a PGA event. Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, more Tiger, some other golfer, Tiger and more Tiger.

Not sure this tops some of the other pics/vids already posted, but it sure does increase my interest in womens hurdles.

2012 Olympics -- Michael Phelps and the greatest ever debate - ESPN

Did anyone else read this article by Wilbon today?

I think it's funny he wrote this article before Phelps was even done in the sport and hours before he won another gold. It's sad that our sports writers are so quick to break down great accomplishments rather than praise the athletes and their hard work.

Here's a good tidbit....

"The freestyle and butterfly require different strokes, sure. But running the 100 and performing the long jump require entirely different skill sets, which is what to me sets Lewis apart. Not only that, but more people across the world run than swim. The pool of talent was much greater for people who could challenge Lewis than Phelps."
