I can't believe PSU isn't proactively handling this and doing the right thing. The longer they wait, the worse its gonna be for them.

After all of this sickness they continue to prove they're in denial, unremorseful and haven't learned a damned thing.

Or they're caught between a rock and a hard place, to the tenth power.

....I know when I was that age...simply because someone told me to do it or else ...well they'd be lucky if all I did was sleep by the statue. The more likely result would have been their anonymity being blown to hell, followed shortly by me daring them to try, rather aggressively.

I don't like what happened at PSU. I don't like the administration's response...I don't like law enforcement's response...not much I like about anyone's conduct. But these are kids for heaven's sake...let them have some time to work through it, and let them have a say w/o totally allowing outsiders to foist their demands upon them, and the university...they'll do something acceptable in the end...if tough a$$es in airplanes leave them alone, and give them space and time to do it. This has more to do with morons creating a turf war than anyone's thoughts on Joepa's conduct, and what that means...just a douchy thing to do!

And who was the "we" in that banner? Was the plane going to drop a bomb or something?

They definitely need to back off from outside pressure for now. Let the school decide on next steps. Adding more pressure will only make it more of a powder keg.

I say melt it, but my guess is they (PSU) announce that the statue will be moved to a less prominent location on campus or off campus to a local park or something .

I still say (whether they leave the statue where it stands or move it) that the statue and the area surrounding it be made as pigeon friendly as possible. Let the doo-doo what they do so well.

Let the birds do to JoPa's statue what he did to the victims by not doing the right thing so many years ago. A few layers of guano would give it an appropriate patina and make it that much easier to melt.

I just read where the owner of the ad company believes the banner is freedom of speech...kind of odd invoking freedom of speech for a client who threatens someone else's. Thats right, the statue is a form of expression, not to mention the fact it exists on private property.

I agree with anyone's right to express an opinion about the statue, its placement, or allowing it to exist at all. Had the "Or we will" part have been left out, I'd defend these knuckle heads.

As it stands I hope "we" gets exposed, and dealt with accordingly.

I can't believe it's even a question. Down. Same direction he's headed in the afterlife.

Glad the statue is coming down.

I think it would be a great gesture if it was replaced by a monument/something acknowledging the errors in judgment and inaction made throughout the university hierarchy in not putting the protection of the kids involved FIRST. Unfortunately, I would then expect that many of those misguided football-first fans/students would likely desecrate whatever replaced their beloved Joe shrine.

...WOW, you mean people in State College and the greater Central PA region aren't a bunch of inbred Reprobates...whoda thunk it

I changed my Mind though...I don't think it belongs in the Library. I think it should move between the Admin Building and the Athletic Offices about every two years for the next 100 as a constant reminder to both. I think incoming administrators and athletic department employees should be required to demonstrated understanding of the facts and outcome as a condition of employment. I think students need to know this saga as well, such that they too are vigilant now and throughout their lives...good must come from evil...the best we got is to prevent it in the future.
