Dropped to 91 rating #227 overall #20 OT

I was basing this off of the front page of his profile. I realize now that only the 5 stars have been adjusted. Everyone else will be tomorrow according to JC.

Yo Grahambo I don't think they come out with the full ratings until tommorow. They only did the top players today.

Yeah. I caught that so I edited my initial post.

I really hope he gets a bump back up.

He definitely deserves a bump. I think he's a top 50 player in the country but at the very least he should be back in the 150

Someone asked JC Shuburt if Elmer would move up on 247. This was his response.

JC Shurburtt said...

We think he's about right and collectively did not share the same enthusiasm for his showing that others had.

idk if one win will do that...if you think about it an O lineman wins probably over 80% of pass plays any given game, but the 20% he loses can make him look really bad.

Probably not but it is a good sign that he can actually compete at these camps. As someone who has gone through 1 v 1's in practice everyday, the D-line wins 80% of the time in this drill b/c they have no run responsibility and they don't have to worry about other players getting in their way or keeping their gap on the pass rush, there is no potential for a double team either. Once our coach flipped the drill to where we can either pass set or run block, that percentage flipped to 80% O-line winning.

Long story short the 1 V 1's, in the traditional "camp" setting, are completely defensive line bias.

FTWAW - our D-line was nasty for D2 while I was there, Jarron Jones' older brother (Very fast and athletic, also committed to Syracuse out of HS), a 1st team All-American who is camping with the G-men in Randy Colling, and a few other All-GLIAC/PSAC players. (we changed conferences)

That was the first time I have seen Montelus get interviewed. He seems like a great kid

Wow. Assuming some 5th years, in three years we could have a killer line.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Summer Standouts: Top OL making a push

8/5/12

The summer camps have wound down and the Rivals.com recruiting analysts were all over the country, scouting hundreds of prospects. Over the next week, Rivals.com is releasing our Summer Standouts list, position-by-position. Here is our list of offensive linemen.

Note: This does not reflect a guaranteed move up in our next set of rankings. Many players listed had excellent summers but also proved we had them ranked in the correct range in our previous rankings. These are in alphabetical order

...

Steve Elmer, Midland (Mich.): Elmer showed up at The Opening sporting one of the best bodies for a tackle and put that body to work a few weeks later at Top Gun Camp. He was the top performer among linemen at Top Gun and used his well-rounded skill set to avoid losing a single rep we saw. It's hard to say if Elmer will make any movement in the rankings because of his high current standing, but that doesn't make him any less impressive.

I think all of the services have a grudge against Steve Elmer because of his early committ and lack of drama, and are taking it out against Jamel James.

yes.......you stood out and played better than all of the guys ranked above you in the rankings, you are huge and fit the part, you went to some of the best camps available and did outstanding and stood out like a sore thumb (a good sore thumb) .........but we dont think we will move you up.......

Not that it matters - but damn what's up with that?

My observations from watching Elmer @ Fenton-Midland scrimmage:
The dude is big!! Like a Man against boys.
Lined up at Left Tackle on O and DE on D.
Great run blocking he was pancaking guys on practically every running play.
Not too much pass blocking to judge, his team runs the ball alot.
Good quickness though and finishes his blocks with a nasty streak.

Cool point of info. Midland's team are known as the Chemics. Pretty unique name for a sports team i think!
