Fine Fine Fine....I started feeling bad after reading through the posts. This is for the dshans, jimmymacs, OMMs, and Sactowns out there to read the threads with ease. Back to the old signature.....but it won't be the last you see of the Big Lebowski crew!!

Told you ;)

...if the concensus says it's too big I'll take it down...but you got to love wooly's beeper hanging from his neckline

The still pictures don't slow my page loading down at all.

And, I'd "vote" absolutely to keep doing those "just on the topic of the moment" moving gifs as they are part of the "charm" of the creative persons on IE. Rarely do those get so dense on a single page to stop all the action. The moving gif signatures for persons posting four / five times on a single page were what froze my computer for me.

And I personally don't mind a repetitive big still picture signature like what Bery has done now with the three characters from the Big Lebowski. If Whiskey wanted to put a still of his " Oh-if-you-really-insist-I'll-tell-you" character [a thought often apropos for IE threads] that would work for me on both technological and sociological levels too.

My two cents to the discussion....

It's a little large, but guess what? It's not slowing the browser down rendering the frames of an animated gif and it is only 101kb (good compression). By my napkin math that's 2.9% the size of the largest gif that was being used as a sig.

Plus, if a large pic bothers me I can always block it, and only it, with Ad Block.

I don't want to disturb the Dude's plunging neckline..

Does this mean it's safe to go back into the sig line pool again? The animated gif sharks are gone?

So... in essence.... this thread only resulted in NDPhilly changing his sig line, while SLuh still has his, Walter has a new and more annoying one.... and all at the cost of me losing my favorite three sig lines? (Bery, Bobd and Whiskey)

It also resulted in my ability to not see Sluh's sig line anymore, which is something.

Changed my yesterday after I got home, around 2:00 CT, wasn't on here during the peak of this threads popularity.

I was on vacation all last week without my phone so any prior complaints about my signature I did not see

If someone would have just PMd that they didn't like it, I would have changed it but nevertheless gang mentality has won out.

Don't think of it as "gang mentality." Think of it as gracious generosity. I seem to recall a time some years back when I commented that some animated gif was causing a problem for me. The response I got was "tough shyte, old man, get a new and faster than quick (quicker than fast?) computer and a faster internet connection" or something along those lines.

I thank Andy for starting a thread that garnered attention. I haven't had any luck getting Ad Blocker to work for me, but phantom Mod Steve deserves a thank you "Yo" for directing me to the User Control Panel feature that allows me to block all signature lines. It's not an obvious option.

Is Steve really a mod?

Yep. lol I haven't been able to post a lot here lately. I work overnights from 7 PM to 7 AM and during the school year, I have classes at 8, 9 and 10 right after work. Then I go home to sleep for a little before doing it all over again lol. I thought the summer would've given me a little bit of a break, but my job is making us work 12 extra hours of mandatory overtime every other week. I'll try to get back on here more. I feel bad for still being a mod lol

Why not just block sigs through your user options on the site?

I was wondering this myself.
I started blocking all those ridiculous sigs years ago.
Not sure who's it is, and no disrespect to you, but the one with Kelly doing prostate exams is particularly annoying to me.
