Freebie from Irish Eyes
Rees, 20, inexplicably ran from police presence, was subsequently slowed by a cab driver (not sure where to start with that aspect of the report) and then scuffled with a police officer. It wasn’t bad judgment, it was a career-changing mistake.
Consider a 20-year-old drinking alcohol off campus on the last day of the school year that is subsequently cited by the police following a noise complaint in a residential neighborhood. Inconsequential.
That was the likely scenario that faced Rees and others when the police told them to stop fleeing the scene. Other stopped, Rees did not.
Prior to what had to be the longest run of his college career, Rees was facing something along the lines of a minor consumption citation and inevitable University, legal, and team-levied slaps on the wrist. The usual rhetoric:
"Don't drink again until you're 21 (wink, in public). Go tell some South Bend area kids not to drink to excess, and definitely not to disrespect authority. Tell the press you're sorry and that you made a mistake. Pick up some trash, stop turning the ball over, run some extra sprints, etc., etc."

What the heck happened here?
So was it a real taxi that slowed Tommy Rees, or when the officer uses the term "cab" is he referring to an officer in a patrol car?
Carlo Calabrese charged with one count of Intimidation, a misdemeanor. Prosecutors allege he said "my people will get you" to SB officer.
Both Calabrese and Tommy Rees are scheduled to appear in court tomorrow (Thurs) at 8 a.m. related to May 3 incident.
Charging docs: "Calabrese then asked if Officer Finley was a Notre Dame football fan, to which Officer Finley responded it was irrelevant."
docs: "Calabrese stated it was relevant & that Officer Finley did not like ND football by how Finley was acting toward him & his teammates."
@MaloneMK:
interesting.. seems like an odd thing for him to say "my people will get you."
but I guess I could see him, or any D-1 athlete, saying something like "do you like "so & so" football?"
with a good lawyer he should get that charge dropped and maybe do 100 hours of community service or something.. his first offense (is it?) is a he-said-she-said misdemeanor.. might even get thrown out
100 hours of CS for that... I dont see it, maybe 30-45 hours.
