ND Legacy (son of former Irish CB Marv Spence) visiting for Blue and Gold Game. Has "very strong interest" in ND but wants to figure out the numbers situation as he saw we landed Malik for 2013.

as of now...looking like we're going to be pretty stocked there barring transfers.

6 years ago this week ND was stocked with Sharpley, Frazer, Jones, and Clausen. A short time later Frazer left for lack of snaps, then Jones "missed the bus", injuries, and the deep depth chart was bare.

Pursue this kid and others like him!

4.8 GPA? That means he's pulling straight A's in a class load heavy with AP courses. Solid.

I'm pretty sure a 4.8 on a 4.0 isn't even possible. I thought the highest you could get was a 4.5

This got me curious. So here's more info than probably necessary from dls.org:

GRADE QUALITY POINTS

De La Salle has five levels of courses according to the content and ability level. To maintain the ranking process of an equitable level for all categories, a distinction is made in assigning quality points for each level. The levels and quality points are listed below.

Honors Course - Students taking this level are expected to do work of superior quality in a course of accelerated material. (A-5.0, B-4.0, C-2.75, D-1.0, F-0)

Advanced Course - Students in this course are expected to be of above average ability and perform accordingly in a course of advanced content. (A-4.5, B-3.5, C-2.5, D-1.0, F-0)

Regular Course - This is an average level high school course and students are expected to do the average work required of a high school student. (A-4.0, B-3.0, C-2.0, D-1.0, F-0)

General Course - This is a course which is at the basic level and designed for the students who have some difficulty in the particular area covered. (A-3.85, B-2.85, C-2.0, D-1.0, F-0)

The level designation of particular courses may be found in the Curriculum Guide published annually.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE

The grade point average (GPA) that appears on the report card is the average grade of the student for the entire time he/she has been in high school. This average is based on an A being equal to 4.00, a B being equal to 3.00, a C being equal to 2.00 and a D being equal to 1.00

Of course you have to convince the recruits, not the ones who have to do the pursuing.

I wasn't addressing the coaching staff. You always have to convince recruits that's not the point.

Every year there are fans who come on the site and post we don't need to recruit a QB or RB or TE, etc. "we're loaded there". Then when a Hiben decides to focus solely on architecture, a Reuland transfers because he got beat out by a true freshman, a Ragone never really recovers from knee surgeries, a Yeatman busts his probation, and a Fauria decides to bail rather then face the music you get to start a true freshman who was a great receiver but didn't have the strength nor techinique as a true freshman to be effective blocker.

Attrition happens. And without the prospect of plugging in JUCOs at ND. You better have replacements on hand not two year down the road.

That's a pretty damn good GPA. Granted it is on a 5 point scale.

I looked up the page. I've already talked about this.

Here's his highlight film.
