The crazy part isn't so much the 10.36, which is fantastic, but it's that he is 6'1 and ~215lbs. He's a big, fast, ball carrier.

Don't forget Davonte Neal. With Golson we could be a faster Oregon....

George Atkinson, Josh Atkinson, Chris Brown, Devonte Neal.

SPEEEEED.

For the record, Notre Dame won the Big East Track Championship. So Ronald Darby can eat his heart out.

Not to bring down their accomplishments, they still were flying and are REAL fast, but the wind should not be ignored. Usually lists like that are wind legal times ( less than +2.0m/s wind). George and Josh's times were not wind legal. Not that that means they ran poorly, or ran slow (duh), but the stats are definitely taken out of context a bit.

Here is what I said earlier in George's thread
george just won his heat of the 100m at the Big East Championships in Tampa. Time of 10.36s (+2.2m/s wind). Would have been a huge best, but illegal because of the tailwind. Will be in the finals.

Edit: Josh also ran. 10.50 with a + 2.5m/s wind index. Will also be in the finals tomorrow afternoon.

George's time converts to a 10.47 with no wind, while Josh's converts to a 10.63.
Wind/Altitude correction in the 100m sprint (very much accepted in the track community).
Obviously, some of those time could have been run with a 1.9 m/s tailwind, so turning the time to a no-wind time may not be fair to the Atkinson's. Converting to a 1.5 wind would be around a 10.44s for George and 10.59 for Josh, still flying.

Sorry for the track rant... Im a crazy stats guy when it comes to track...
Also: George's time with his weight is ridiculous.

I completely agree with you, and was aware of that as a track nut myself. Their times aren't earth-shattering, but they are certainly impressive.

Anything sub 10.5 is blazing speed IMO. Golson, GAIII, Chris brown, Davonte Neal, and kevirae Russell on the field at the same time in two years?? Holy speed!

Good point on K Russel-he's getting overlooked due to Neal's saga. Some real playmakers on this team.

Yep. I believe Mike Frank on ISD actually had Keivarae rated higher than Davonte on his big board

Deanthony Thomas ran a 10.65 100m this weekend. So even without the wind, GAIII and Josh are faster wow.

So many superb ingredients. I'm guessing this is the fast Irish team ever. Anyone know. Now if we can just coach and develop, figure out the QB and DB situation.....

I just imagine these playmakers in Kelly's offensive scheme, and it makes me ridiculously excited for the future. The talent in on the roster, so even with the uncertainty at QB, I'm expecting some big things in the future.

Speed kills.

All this speed ND has acquired is a testament to the fine job Coach Kelly has done recruiting. He's proven many pundits wrong thus far, now let's win some games!

He proved he could coach and develop at Cincy and other places. He's done a better job recruiting at ND than I thought he would (even considering defections and small haul this year). I have to think it's only time before things come together.

If Golson starts this year, I believe that time is now if we continue to get good performance out of the DL, and incremental improvement out of the DBs over the course of the year.
