Not to bring down their accomplishments, they still were flying and are REAL fast, but the wind should not be ignored. Usually lists like that are wind legal times ( less than +2.0m/s wind). George and Josh's times were not wind legal. Not that that means they ran poorly, or ran slow (duh), but the stats are definitely taken out of context a bit.
Here is what I said earlier in George's thread
george just won his heat of the 100m at the Big East Championships in Tampa. Time of 10.36s (+2.2m/s wind). Would have been a huge best, but illegal because of the tailwind. Will be in the finals.
Edit: Josh also ran. 10.50 with a + 2.5m/s wind index. Will also be in the finals tomorrow afternoon.
George's time converts to a 10.47 with no wind, while Josh's converts to a 10.63.
Wind/Altitude correction in the 100m sprint (very much accepted in the track community).
Obviously, some of those time could have been run with a 1.9 m/s tailwind, so turning the time to a no-wind time may not be fair to the Atkinson's. Converting to a 1.5 wind would be around a 10.44s for George and 10.59 for Josh, still flying.
Sorry for the track rant... Im a crazy stats guy when it comes to track...
Also: George's time with his weight is ridiculous.
