Why Does That Matter?

Watching the Vandy/Florida game. They showed a graphic about the last time Vandy beat Florida in Gainsville. It was 1945 and showed different stats. Then the last stat is that Army beat Notre Dame so many weeks later. How does that pertain to anything Vandy or Florida?

Just a little gripe I had. Makes no sense.

I just watched that game as well and noticed that. Beats me...., don't have any idea why that little fact was shown. No relevance whatsoever.

I saw that, too. I think it was just meant to provide context (that Army was the No. 1 team in the country and an absolute powerhouse). All of that type of trivia is meaningless in a larger sense. That Vandy beat Florida in 1945 may seem more relevant than the ND-Army score, but is it really? What impact does it have on today's game?

Didn't see it. I'll guess they were trying a tie-in to the LSU/ALA #1 v #2 game tonight also an SEC event. In '45 #2 ND met #1 Army the week after undefeated ND and Navy had played to a tie. ND/Army was 1945's Game of The Century.
